Prelude to Midnight
July 11, 2007 Face to the stars We could forget where we are Everything that we’ve done We could forget what’s around us Lines of fear and trust So tired of the long run In this prelude to midnight we could remember And wait on finding the light and finding a center Look up at the stars lit so long ago Wander this road; don’t care where it goes The leaves swirl ‘round in the fall-winter wind End of a season, got an epoch to begin …And I worry if the one thing that we miss If I get too busy I’ll miss the moments like this …And I worry if the one thing that we miss If we’re caught up in the world, what we risk …And I worry if the one thing that we miss If there’s a second to spend with you and I pass …And I worry if the one thing that we miss What if something happens and it’s our last? In this prelude to midnight we could remember And wait on finding the light and finding a center Look up at the stars lit so long ago Wander this road; don’t care where it goes The leaves swirl ‘round in the fall-winter wind End of a season, got an epoch to begin |
