one son's father ~

i wonder what he thinks of on father's day.
remembering the one he doesn't know
or the one he wishes to forget.
it is hard to say
even harder to think about.
it is no wonder he runs from it
staying just a figure to many
blood to none.
in a rare quiet moment
he has to wonder
if there was no father's day
how much different his life would be.
even if just for one waking morning
what he would give to notice the light.
but that beast can never be tamed
marks too deep and lasting.
when the greatest of all trusts is broken
there is no reason
there is no rhyme
there is no healing
there is no,
forgiveness.
if only he could see
it is himself
he owes that to.
