Mankind's achievements and follies are because of their own doing; use prudence when giving credence to those who it does not belong to. (written by Me)

People give too little credit to themselves when they have worked and have given up so much in order to achieve their goals. I've encountered this sooo many times that I've lost count; I really need not give examples because I'm sure most of you are able to see the point I put in this matter. FYI.. Family, friends, brothers and sisters in arms have suffered, died, and scarred for life in order to help those they care for to achieve their goals, and the first thing that comes out of people's lips is "Thank _-_ for giving him the strength, will, Luck, etc to be able to achieve it!"

I would like to hear people's opinions on this. This is one of many things that has made me non-religious.

Gratitude is always a good thing. Express it to the people who deserve it.

I always say thank you to the universal intelligence that I conceive to be "God" for lack of anyone else to express it to. I don't do it in public. Its a private feeling of gratitude and joy.

The universe is intelligent and alive and it is part of me. I thank myself, I thank my food for dieing so that I could eat it. Especially lobster. tongue2

I say:

"Thank you Thank You Thank you! For being so tasty! For dieing so that I can live and enjoy eating you."

IMO the credit belongs to who each individual feels it should go to. If I want to give thanks to God (according to my beliefs), then I will. It's my choice. It's your (generally speaking) choice to give thanks or not to give thanks according to what you believe.

BUT just because I may thank God doesn't mean I don't give thanks to others as well. I thank my loved ones all the time. If someone does a good job, I tell them so.

Just because I thank God doesn't mean I don't appreciate my achievements or what others do.

doesn't god get tired of hearing thanks a few billion times a day? seems like it would get old pretty quick, after the first 7 or 8 billion...

laugh I don't think so. He can put me on mute (many others have wanted to do that on Earth already)

But I don't believe He does.

MR. KRABS from Sponge Bob sure is tasty! I believe he's a lobster even though his name is Krabs. I'm not so sure if the universe is in itself intelligent; always possible because we do not fully understand its' entirety. I do however agree that we are all made from the stuff of the stars!

Attitude and vibration plays an important part in attracting good things into your life. An attitude of gratitude, no matter who it is directed towards, is something that will you bring good fortune.

everyone has responsibility which can be later turned into 'blame' or 'credit'

and I think, credit(or thanx) will be given based upon individual perception

I thank my mom and dad for raising me as they did,

in the end, this is not the same as not giving myself enough credit though, its just aknowledging the credit due to someone else

Why do you think God is a nonfactor in these events?

Because its' use has been overplayed, but I guess you can use that context in such cases as when Hitler almost wiped out a religious group. Guess he must have been thanking God for helping him to do that.i.e. it can be seen as the problem.

who does it harm to 'thank god'

isnt that a personal introspection that should be up to each individual?

I dont have to agree that the flag is sacred, but that doesnt mean I think its a problem for someone else too,,so long as they dont use it as an EXCUSE to harm,,, in which case the problem is not that they viewed it as sacred but that they didnt view human life as just as sacred,,,,
