Topic: Songs that bring back childhood memories | |
---|---|
List any songs that bring back childhood memories whether happy/sad or inbetween. If you care to share the memory that's an extra plus.
For me the first song that comes to mind I would say is "Sweet Love" by Anita Baker. I can recall listening to that song as a little girl as my mom was beginning to cook dinner. I can even remember not the smell, but I can feel the breeze on my face. We used to always keep the window open. It's a very warm memory. |

I remember that song, Kokomos, from Jr. High, Aruba, Jamaica, Come on baby take me to bermuda, bahamas, Come on pretty Mama, Key Largo, Montigo, Come on let me take you down to KOKOMOS, well get there fast but we'll take it slow....
I remember the first school dances we ever went to hearing that song, and all the awkward kids along the walls, except like two or three people in the middle showing off their killer rhythmic moves, that no-one else had...but of course like always by the end of the dance the floor was full with a bunch of sloppy dancers having fun.... Also same time era, same dance, Come on Come On, do the Locomotion with Meeeee, you gotta swing your hips now... it was cool, cuz Locomotion Surf gear was cool right then too! |

Hey Nineteen by Steely Dan
It always makes me think of the Fourth of July. I believe that was when I first remember hearing the song when I was young. Just about anything by Bob Marley takes me back to July of 1988. Dancing to reggae with my first girlfriend. No Woman No Cry and Stir It Up tend to bring back the good feelings the most, but we danced to a lot more than just that. |

oh man so many
express yourself (do it do it), I just loved the sound of it from the time I was a toddler aint no stopping us now(by mcfadden and white head),, reminds me of how significant education and perserverence were in our home brick house(by the commodores), reminds me of my brothers friends when they used to tease my brother about me love you down(by RFTW), was the song my first husband used to serenade me with shaft(by curtis mayfield),, just because it was such a cool song and my eldest brother had a friend who swore it was his theme song and had me convinced his name was actually 'superfly'.....lol she used to be my girl, because it was the song my parents loved to dance together too and the happiest I ever saw my dad |

First 2 that come to mind are:
The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens > my sister and I would beg Daddy to play that on the 8track while riding in his custom van so we could sing (howl) with it And Candida by Tony Orlando & Dawn > Daddy wanted to name me Candida Maria and used to tell me this was my song while he’d swing me around and let me dance on his feet |
