The past few days I have noticed my 6 month old Chihuahua looking "swollen". Today she is more swollen then I have ever seen. We have 3 other male dogs and one isnt intrested at all but he is neutered but the other two have been sniffing at her all day but not trying to mount her or anything and our other female dog has been trying to fight with her for the past 3 days, they are fighting so bad that they have to be kept seperate now. Do you think maybe she is in heat? When should I start keeping her anyway from the unneutered males? Isnt she too young to be going into heat already?

Most animals can go into heat as early as 3 or 4 months. She maybe going thru it right now, but I would take her to a vet and make sure its not something more internal.

yea she is in heat..
my aussie did this at 7 mo..
just keep her comfortable and away from all
other dogs..
It takes about three weeks.. for this to clear..
It is not good for her to have a litter so young..
My vet recommended that to breed ussually wait
until second heat cycle..
I was worried about mine.. but my vet was helpful..
you should still call your vet..
and bleeding will occur.. if it is not cleaned up..
you are going to have male dogs coming out of the wood work..
lol.. believe me I know.. and they don't go away..lol..

She could be in heat, but if she is swollen, it seems more like worms to me. I am not a vet, but I have been studying to be a vet tech. Check with your regualr vet to be sure.

When I said swollen I meant her privates were swollen, not her belly. I dont think its worms.

Take her to the Vet. That's a part of what being a responsible pet owner is all about. If it is something other than her being in heat then it would be best to know as soon as possible.

Sounds like your pup is entering her first cycle. The symptoms you described will get worse the further into the cycle she gets. And like human females she will get ...er...fussier. As she gets further into the cycle you will notice your males dogs showing much more interest in her.

I know she shouldnt have a litter now, but IS it possible for her to get pregnant? I have heard that its not possible her first time.
