Tattoos can be nice. Some are very artistic. But they don't age well.
I thought about getting inked a long time ago but was talked out of
it by a friend who had one which I thought was pretty nice. As nice
as it was, he got tired of it and said he always recommended against
getting tattoos.

Made me think about it and I decided that I could always do henna or
sharpie and the like and then I could enjoy a different experience
every time.

So I am completely un-tatted and un-pierced and have never regretted
my decision. I still enjoy them on others sometimes.

Tats, can be very sexy. But they can be a turn off too.

Any inferior artwork will come off as tacky.

Cartoon characters or any semi-commercial adware would be out for
me for a permanent tat. You might think that Taz or Bugs bunny or
the Dead bear is cool for a while but I don't think it will last
a lifetime.

Do you believe that you should only get ink done if you believe in what you are getting?

Yeah. Pretty much will always be a permanent part of you so it had
better be something which will always mean a lot to you.

Or would you get it to "fit in" with a group?

No. Affiliations change.

How about the "played out" tattoos? Which tattoos are you tired of seeing on everybody?

Well almost anything can get old after 20 or 30 years but I did find
a humorous article "10 Most Regrettable Tattoos"...so I will share
it - not necessarily agreeing with this article but I did find it
amusing:

In this article he skewers such standards as "a child's face, cartoons, names or initials, barbwire, superheroes, chinese symbols,
zodiac signs, knuckle tats, tribals, teardrops, trampstamps and the
inmate sets - teardrops, gangtats, crucifix and bible verses..."

laugh

I do like the one I have on my profile though and it is a man's
ruin theme. So go figure.

I wouldn't tat myself with it. Might make a cool T-shirt though.

Tattoos I do not understand are the ones in a foreign language, most of the time they do not translate how you think they do because of the different dialects in languages. When I lived in Korea I almost got one that was suppose to say something about the lone wolf hunting at night, but I started asking people I trusted and they told me that in some areas they might read is as I "liked" wolves in the night and I go looking for them...lol. Even in the States here a phrase from up north might not mean the same as down South...

Mine says "Let go and know that I am God" in Hebrew, which is a language I actually speak. My husband is the one that made sure it was done correctly. He watched the entire inking via webcam from Israel (where he lives)

He regrets getting an Israeli to tattoo our daughter's name on him in Chinese. All my tattoos are done in languages I actually know by someone I trust.

Had the nose/ear chain for a minute....very nearly several tattoos.

Gotten to the point where I don't even like to wear a necklace or watch. Done other amazing things. Love! the art of it and get excited over friends' adornments.....but never really captured "me".
