they probably didn't know...why would they know any more than us? The higher ups might have known, but it would have been to their advantage to let the others think he was alive, so they could use his image and voice to their agenda. if the government told us he was dead then, the whole invasion of iraq would have heard more scrutiny, and then they would have martyred OBL at the wrong time, and made the war even harder. but this whole thing stinks of political posturing, more so than usual...

What if al-qaeda was government created to begin with? If that was the case, which I believe it is, you'd have your answer.

I hate Obama as much as anyone else, and I think he is a compulsive liar but I definately believe this.

To many people including honorable military leaders who have to much integrity to lie about it have confirmed it. Not to mention members of all the political parties that witnessed the operation, who has seen the months of video and year of audio of him in the house and apartment. Not to mention the treasure trove of intelligence we recovered.

Not to mention someone I really trust and know, war hero and former Congressman and chairman of the Armed Services committee and national intelligance committee Duncan Hunter confirmed it as well as his son who is also a war hero and Special Forces(Delta Force) member current Congressman who has seen the evidence and the pictures of him not to mention probably knows the members of the team that took Bin Laden out, being he was a part of that in Afganistan and Iraq.

Not to mention the Internationally Verified Audio and Video clips of Osama Bin Laden making statements and talking about world events as they happen.

I believe he's still alive or dead...and the United States did not kill him. We probably killed one of his doubles and joyed over it. Either way, it's just going to cause serious retaliation against us so be prepared people.

If you ask me, the entire thing is a setup for another 9-11, aka false flag attack of some sort. With this having been done, and what "al-qaeda" has said about it, it makes them easy scapegoats to pass the blame onto if something happens.
