INDIANAPOLIS -- A federal judge has refused to block a new Indiana law that cuts off public funding for Planned Parenthood.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt denied Planned Parenthood of Indiana's request for a temporary restraining order Wednesday despite arguments that the law jeopardizes health care for thousands of women.

Planned Parenthood wanted to keep funds flowing while it challenges the law signed this week by Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels. The judge's decision allows the cuts to take effect immediately.

The funding cuts are part of a new law that also bans abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy unless there is a substantial threat to the woman's life or health.

The law could improve Daniels' image with social conservatives as he considers a 2012 run for president.

The Republican Pro Life stance is one thing about the Republican party that alienates me to them. BUT it is funny to see a Democrat doing the exact same thing they blame the Republicans for!

I dunno, I go back and forth on this issue, but I think it's funny as hell that an Obama apointee went against the "Messiah". I have a hunch he placed a call to the judge already explaining to her who calls the shots, not her.

I agree ... I think a woman should have absolute control over her own body, but as Andy said, it is funny to see that sort of thing happen.

Sad thing is they do pap smears and blood tests and preventative medicine for women. Poor women will loose out on care. It is not an abortion clinic as many think. Sad Sad.

How sad more kids being born into a country that does not provide jobs or healthcare. I suppose when all else fails they can join the military.

We could be in the Middle East where they do non medical virginity tests on women.

I believe women should be allowed to their own decisions, but that doesn't mean I think they have a right to kill their child. Even if the child is still growing inside her body. As a classical liberal, I place Life before convenience or even emotional discomfort. If she's not happy about being pregnant, maybe next time she'll be on the pill, the gel and force the guy to wear a condom.

The Republican party is too stunk up on Morality and Religion. they like the Democrats have lost touch with US little people.

Now I do agree that some medical testing is not the responsibility of the government. But the whole Anti-Abortion stance is way too much. We need population control badly. That and we need to get a firm handle on Illegal immigration and the bogusness that has corrupted our immigration policies like Anchor babies!

Or keep her legs closed.

Besides, I could never support an orginization who's founder was an admitted Communist who supported Hitler and Nazi Germany.

Also she only supported birth control and abortions because of her swinging lifestyle and didn't want to face the reprocussions of it.

Abstinence does not work though. Frankly when love hits all logic goes out the door. it is one thing for a girl to make a mistake BUT sluts who are getting abortions every three months, That is wrong!

Thankfully this isn't the middle east where sex can get you stoned and not in the friendly way!
