Why is it that so many of those people from the 40s look so great in a tuxedo, but today they often just look silly?

Why is it that so many of those people from the 40s look so great in a tuxedo, but today they often just look silly? I don't know, I think some tuxedos look pretty good. |

Why is it that so many of those people from the 40s look so great in a tuxedo, but today they often just look silly? Because back then a man had his tux made for him. Today, we rent them. |

I thought maybe it had somethoing to do with today's hair styles. The shaggy, unkempt look and the 3-day-old shadow just look wrong with a tux

Hugh Laurie. Well, looks OK, I guess. In my mind's eye, I was picturing Kieffer Sutherland, although I know there have been others that struck me that way

Class is the way one portrays themselves, by the grace of their movements, by showing respect for others in each movement they make. It is and air around them that makes others take a second glace. Confidence in the way they present themselves.

Lot of great answers. Also...
Class to me is someone who... Stands on their own two feet. Nobodies shoulders or on their toes always grasping. If they get knocked down they pull themselves up by their own bootstraps as much as possible but accepts help graciously. When they make a mistake they admit it and try not to repeat it. If they can they make amends. Class is a lot of where preparation meets opportunity and yet does not exploite it. Class is attitude and gratitude; nobody gets very far with out help. Class is manners but also making people feel at ease. Class is taking the time to find out what is appropriate/culturally aware. Class is standing up for what is right even if it isn't popular or easy. Class is being a peacemaker with out being a doormat. Class is sharing with out making people feel like they are being given charity. Class is being a leader without making people feel like they are always following or running to catch up. Class is a lot more about how you treat others than how you expect to be treated but there is a general self respect. Class is one of those things you should notice in other people if they are being classy and try to overlook if they aren't. |
