Thinking about how hard it is to let go. There are so many things in life I bounce back quickly from. But this has turned my life upside-down. Despite everything I feel - all the hurt, all the anger, all the want and desire - I know I am doing the right thing. Eventually, I will get over it - will be able to forgive or even see what might have been overlooked. When that comes to pass, I will have become stronger.
In another thread, someone wrote: True love is uncondtional. It is not given and taken away due to a person's failure to meet your expectations. You might remove yourself from their life, but never 'take' your love away.
I am learning there is truth in these words, and that is why letting go is so painful. When the pain subsides, one finds that what he thought was hate is really nothing more than an expression of the frustration and the disappointment of love failing to meet one's hopes and expectations. As the dust settles, one finds love is still there. It is simply life that has moved on - occasionally stealing a glance over its shoulder to glimpse what has been left behind. |
