I agree.

I would argue that is what marriage is about as well. Obviously a lot more involved than that. But would anyone be willing to get married to someone they don't want to bed?

Leave it Krupa to boil it down to the essence. He's right: dating is about sex. Maybe not right away, but whether you are looking for a quickie or the long haul, either way you basically want sex to be part of the deal.

Of course sex is the most basic component to dating & potential relationships! I wouldn't agree to a date with a guy I could not see myself bedding at some point and same to marriage. I never really got the no sex til marriage idea...I'm not buying something I can't test drive :)

FWB is simply sex with a friend without the emotional attachment of a realtionship. Some handle this well because these types enjoy sex for sex and view sex as a reward in itself, basically it's fun and makes you & your friend feel good:) Those that don't handle FWB well generally view sex as something sacred shared only by romantic lovers in a relationship that makes them feel a closer connection.

Never been in an FWB situation, but I would imagine there are problems because one person feels more than just friends after awhile and the other doesn't and gets upset they can't respect the friendship. Generally would mean the end of both the FWB and friendship altogether. "sex ruins a friendship."

^^^ This is why I don't think I could be a FWB. I tend to become emotionally attached. Therefore, if someone I am even remotely interested in suggests being an FWB, I know it won't work.

In my college years I lived in a really rough part of town. I went to eat a greaseball sandwitch in a spoon restaurant, and a reasonably good-looking girl was eyeing me. Remember, I was younger, therefore more naive and better sprinkled with testosterone.

She's there with friends, and they look at me, and they approve, from what I saw.

They got up to leave, and she comes over, and said to me, "wanna go?" I said, what, on a date? When? gimme your number. She said, "No, I mean now. Do you have a place near?"

This you don't have to tell a young buck twice. My eyes almost popped out from the vehement bulging; a girl wants to screw me on first sight!!!

We melted back to my rooming house, on our way up the stairs I wanted to do some foreplay, and grabbed her, she said, "don't grab me in here."

We go into my tiny, cockroach-infested room, I start to peel her clothes off, but she becomes tense, I sense. "Something wrong?" I asked. "Well,... only that I usually take the cash first." My turn to tense up. "you mean... cash? as in Money? from me to you only just so I can screw you?" I asked, aghast. She said, I got the picture.

I apologized to her. Profusely. (I did not want to be beaten up by her protector, or by her, for that matter.) I said, sorry, I never would have though. I said, I am sorry, I made a mistake, but it's an honest mistake. Plus I can't afford the $40, it's more than my rent for two weeks (this was a very-very long time ago).

So she looked pissed off, but gathered up her stuff and said, "okay, shut up already and gimme some money for the bus" and then I walked her back downstairs, and we took a tearful farewell as we knew I would never be able to kiss her ever again -- her mother would not approve.

-----

Why did I say this -- oh yes, the definition of "date", how it can vary. This hooker did not even say "date", she just said, "wanna go?"

What is a green-eared, pasty-assed, horrny pink cherry to make of that?
