So, now that it has been in place for a couple days, what do you all think of the voting moderator system?

i think its great.. if used the right way but have noticed alot of topics being voted for deletion without a good reason.. ie.. in the right area.. and followed the rules

I brought up the issue of "not in the right area" yesterday, and mike responded to it. I will look fro that post and bump it up, better yet post a link in here to it so I dont have to keep bumping it up lol.
that is a touchy subject as it can be argued wether or not somethign is in the right area.

please also remember if you think it should not be erased you can always vote for kepeing it. I have done so on several posts now, and had mike working to figure out why initially i couldnt lol...

I understand the concept and I'm guessing it would make it easier for Mike and Van to find a "heated" thread, so to speak. Unfortunately, I'm not liken the big brother/Salem witch trial possibilities I can easily see happening with it either.

lol yeah!!!

Mike has stated that he and van are gonna keep an eye onthe topics we vote off, and if they think any were voted off for wrong reason they will reinstate it. And if someone is obviously abusing the moderation system thatperson will be dealt with by means including but not limited to not being able to moderate and being banned fromt he site.

Just another way for those who have self entitled themselves owners of this site to get away with being mean and cruel to the new people and those who are not part of the cliques.

That's a distinct possibility iRon.
I'd actually like to see all the threads good and bad stay permanently. Why delete any threads at all. It is an adult site after all and we all have the choice to read and post or not to in which ever thread we like.

I don't think so Ron...Mike has already said that if it doesn't break the rules then it shouldn't be deleted and he will put them back on....He will be keeping and eye out for those that abuse the voting and they wont be able to moderate...I know I hit delete once by accident when I meant to hit reply!!!!!! It's not that hard to do!!!!!!!!! lol

I am going to reserve judgment on this one until I have a better idea of how well it's working.

While I do have some censorship concerns, the fact is that this is VC & Mike's site, and they have every right to run things as they see fit.

I'm not all that certain about this. I agree, it's a good idea in theory, but in practise it seems different. some topics are posted for deletion with no obvious reason.
They may receive deletion votes from people who don't get along with the poster, or even have something against them.
As long as Mike or Van take note of that it could be a good thing.
However, having this feature may put some people off posting for fear of posting in the wrong section or having their posting rights/profile revoked.
If they post something and it is deleted, then it may put them off posting anything else. glasses

I'm with Lex, I'd like to see how this plays out. There are good and bad aspects of this arrangement, some people want to just say 'it sucks' rather than giving specific criticisms which could be used to improve the system.

I agree with UK, if someone posts and doesn't even understand why its deleted, they might feel frustrated, confused, and unjustly censored. So making it easy for someone to know why their post was deleted might help with that potential problem.

I think it's good for topics that are redundant. BUT what I don't understand is in forums like poetry and jokes. There should be such a thing as free speech. Poems and jokes should be liberal enough...to just allow them to post
