Topic: What was Hitler's religion? | |

He couldn't have been Christian, could he?
I think that Hitler wasn't a Christian because wasn't Jesus a Jew? That would mean that Hitler was praising a Jew! That doesn't make sense at all. Hitler was a Roman Catholic. You will find it in Mein Kampf : "Therefore, I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews, I am doing the Lord's Work." Hitler said it again at a Nazi Christmas celebration in 1926: "Christ was the greatest early fighter in the battle against the world enemy, the Jews ... The work that Christ started but could not finish, I -- Adolf Hitler -- will conclude." In a Reichstag speech in 1938, Hitler again echoed the religious origins of his crusade. "I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By warding off the Jews, I am fighting for the Lord's work." Hitler regarded himself as a Catholic until he died. "I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so," he told Gerhard Engel, one of his generals, in 1941. If you read between the lines, below, you'll find that Hitler was pretty much a Pagan, -but used christian (like) terminolgy to further his agenda for a national identity and against the jews. ...Hitler and other Nazi leaders clearly made use of both Christian and Pagan symbolism and emotion in propagandizing the Germanic public, and it remains a matter of controversy whether Hitler believed himself a Christian, a heathen, or something else entirely. Some historians have typified Hitler as a Satanist or occultist, whereas other writers have referred to Nazism's occasional outward use of Christian doctrine, regardless of what its inner-party mythology may have been. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/nazism_and_... The relationship between German Nazism and religion is a controversial area of study, with much debate centered on two key issues: the role of Protestant and Catholic clergy and hierarchies in defending, criticizing, or ignoring the Nazi regime and its inceasingly repressive actions towards Jews, religious and political minorities, and others; and the role of paganism, the occult, and mysticism in formulating the views of Hitler and the Nazi Party. This entry looks at the German Nazi movement between WWI and WWII. See also, Clerical fascism . For Post-WWII matters, see Neofascism and religion |

yes, Hitler was raised Catholic, (btw Catholicism is still considered to
be Christianity), but he wasn't a practicing man obviously, and near the end even Catholic Priests and Bishops were being arrested and/or persecuted. Hitler used whatever he could, and once it no longer served his purpose, he tended not to care what happened to it, whether it was religion or people |

yeah but his step dad was jewish too so i don't think he had too many
warm fuzzy places for anything...i thought i heard one time that he was agnostic. |

he was in a way, but oddly enough, he felt there was a place for
organized religion in society. But he,like many before and after him, used God to commit some of the most outrageous atrocities... Look at the European conquest of the new world. The Catholic Church was reponsible for the slaughter of thousands of Native peoples. All under the guise of converting them, but the reality is, they just wanted their gold. Even this Christianity vs Islam bullshit is bullshit...Fer cryin out loud..it's the SAME God...He must just be crying his eyes out when you stop and think how many ppl the world over, throughout history, have been killed in His name. |

didn't like being put in their place or an arrogant egotistical asswhole who couldn't let go of the fact that they were too stupid to see a simple truth. sorry man but the only people that i have ever known that would let their selves be manipulated that way were ignorant. |

It's also interesting to note:
The swastika was a universal symbol of good fortune. The swastika (from Sanskrit svastika, from su "well", and asti "being", thus "good fortune" or "well-being") is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles in either left-facing or right-facing direction. The swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. The Hindu version is often decorated with a dot in each quadrant. However, in the Western world, it is most widely known and used as a symbol of Nazism (the Hakenkreuz (hook-cross)) and this political association has eclipsed its historical status as the fylfot. Lots of symbols are once represented good, now are a reputed. |

You interested me in researching this more. He was a Christian, sort
of, but he also did not, along with many of the Nazi party, appreciate country and the party coming first. He tended to recognize the need for religion in Germany, and that many of the people of Germany were christians and he could use that as tools against the Jews. He also modeled his own beliefs similar to Catholic, as it was his background from childhood, and new it and its concepts well. Truely he is not what anyone would call a Christian though, obviously. Also, regarding Jesus being a Jew, this is an odd point to make - what else could he be in those times. He couldn't have believed in himself yet. There were not Christian yet, so he could not have been called that in that time. In reality he was a Jew who became the founder of a new religion, which really made him the first Jewish to Christain convert. In that light, Hitler could admire Jesus. I know, that is a stretch. |

hitler was an evil person buit he was also a very intelligent and
powerful speaker who was masterful at manipulating masses of people by playing on their emotions. i don't think he honestly believed in GOD but he may have. that is some good info recon. i've seen it before and alot of people don't realize where it comes from. it's strange how one person can completely change the course of history. if you take a look at the population in germany during those years most people did not agree with hitlers beliefs but he didn't make them very apparent until it was too late, they fell for the slick talk. it's kind of like the deal with history books, most of what is in the history books is a farce. it doesn't change the truth about what happened but it relies on stupid people or the misinformed for it's survival. |

Actually part of Hitler's platform was to lower the unemployment rate,
which he did, albeit to create the war machine he used. He brought inflation way down and stregthened the Deutscmark(sp) and at that point renamed it the Reichmark. Even as late as mid 1944, the avergae German did his 8 hour shift in the factory, very few women were working to produce the machineries of war and for the most part, most of their necessities and luxuries were still in place. Rationing didn't come until late in the war. Now of course he did use millions in slave labour, but the majority of them did NOT work in the factories. If Hitler had prepared Germany for total war like the allies did, the outcome might have been very different. But Hitler's intelligence was also his weakness. As with most, if not all, megalomaniacs, he thought he was infallible. He believed that the sheer determination of his will would see Germany through even though his armies were "giving up". He refused to allow even the smallest units to move without his ok first, and almost always refused his armies the chance to pull back to more defensible positions after they got over-extended. His firm belief in astology and his belief that God had ordained him to be the next Charlemagne made him impossible to deal with in military matters. If you want to get a good look inside Germany during the Hitler years, I highly recommened reading, "Inside the Third Reich" by Albert Speer, Hitler's architect and later his Armaments Minister. |

well, I don't necessarily believe that Hitler was a Chirstian. I think
he just used the power of religion to his means. I think of Napolian and see Hitler as the same. Nopolian said that religion was great stuff to contol the masses. He would use what ever religion that had the most inflence. But I stop there. I don't believe niether he nor Hitler really cared about religion in general, just that it was a tool to his own power. The claim is sometimes made that Hitler was a Christian - a Roman Catholic until the day he died. In fact, Hitler rejected Christianity. The book Hitler's Secret Conversations 1941-1944 published by Farrar, Straus and Young, Inc.first edition, 1953, contains definitive proof of Hitler's real views. The book was published in Britain under the title, _Hitler's Table Talk 1941-1944, which title was used for the Oxford University Press paperback edition in the United States. All of these are quotes from Adolf Hitler: Night of 11th-12th July, 1941: National Socialism and religion cannot exist together.... The heaviest blow that ever struck humanity was the coming of Christianity. Bolshevism is Christianity's illegitimate child. Both are inventions of the Jew. The deliberate lie in the matter of religion was introduced into the world by Christianity.... Let it not be said that Christianity brought man the life of the soul, for that evolution was in the natural order of things. (p 6 & 7) 10th October, 1941, midday: Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure. (p 43) 14th October, 1941, midday: The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death.... When understanding of the universe has become widespread... Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.... Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity.... And that's why someday its structure will collapse.... ...the only way to get rid of Christianity is to allow it to die little by little.... Christianity the liar.... We'll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State. (p 49-52) 19th October, 1941, night: The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity. 21st October, 1941, midday: Originally, Christianity was merely an incarnation of Bolshevism, the destroyer.... The decisive falsification of Jesus' doctrine was the work of St.Paul. He gave himself to this work... for the purposes of personal exploitation.... Didn't the world see, carried on right into the Middle Ages, the same old system of martyrs, tortures, faggots? Of old, it was in the name of Christianity. Today, it's in the name of Bolshevism. Yesterday the instigator was Saul: the instigator today, Mardochai. Saul was changed into St.Paul, and Mardochai into Karl Marx. By exterminating this pest, we shall do humanity a service of which our soldiers can have no idea. (p 63-65) 13th December, 1941, midnight: Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless, nor any more indecent way of turning the idea of the Godhead into a mockery.... .... When all is said, we have no reason to wish that the Italians and Spaniards should free themselves from the drug of Christianity. Let's be the only people who are immunised against the disease. (p 118 & 119) 14th December, 1941, midday: Kerrl, with noblest of intentions, wanted to attempt a synthesis between National Socialism and Christianity. I don't believe the thing's possible, and I see the obstacle in Christianity itself.... Pure Christianity-- the Christianity of the catacombs-- is concerned with translating Christian doctrine into facts. It leads quite simply to the annihilation of mankind. It is merely whole-hearted Bolshevism, under a tinsel of metaphysics. (p 119 & 120) 9th April, 1942, dinner: There is something very unhealthy about Christianity (p 339) 27th February, 1942, midday: It would always be disagreeable for me to go down to posterity as a man who made concessions in this field. I realize that man, in his imperfection, can commit innumerable errors-- but to devote myself deliberately to errors, that is something I cannot do. I shall never come personally to terms with the Christian lie. Our epoch Uin the next 200 yearse will certainly see the end of the disease of Christianity.... My regret will have been that I couldn't... behold ." (p 278) Source: http://www.answers.org/apologetics/hitquote.html |

Interesting topic.
Another interesting thing about Hitler: he wasn't a right-winger in politics. He was a socialist LEFT-winger. Funny though that a lot of people now compare right-wing politicians to Hitler as an insult. More appropriately, left-wing socialist could be compared to Hitler as an insult. Wonder where the misconception came from? |
