Understanding Capitalism Part IV: Capitalism, Culture and Society I understand public and private sectors very well and capitalism, it is politics and the study behind it that I do not understand. But I will read your article I greatly appreciate anything that may further my understanding of it. |

thats sounds ok to me because the CEO is the only one of the 3 that actually creates income. now if this were the real world the CEO would get about 3 of the cookies, the tea party activist (politician) would get 6, and the unionized public official would get 3 and a gauranteed ration of cookies until he dies. And people like Carly Fiorina, a leader in the Republican party and the person most responsible for turning HP, the gem of American technological enterprise and the gold standard for by-gone American ingenuity into a second-rate ink vendor, don't? Do you even know how big her Golden Parachute was? Or what she did before the HP families came together and essentially fired her? You tea party types are big on union-hating, but you don't know the first thing about how CEOs sit on each others' Boards of Directors and scratch each others' backs in ways that scream "UNION STRAW BOSS" every bit as convincingly as those you constantly rant about. -Kerry O. |

Kerry O by now you should know better than to let facts ruin a good argument. LOL, I know. It was a real Kodak moment when St. Ronnie committed his famous Freudian slip by saying "Facts are stupid things." About as revealing as the time Bill Gates personally introduced Windows '98 on live TV. In the middle of the presentation, it BSOD'd ( Blue Screen of Death ). Although I think Obama has himself caved to vested interests, I think many people know in their hearts that the economy would have BSOD'd without the stimulus had the Republicans won all the marbles in '08. -Kerry O. |

Oh God. This massive thread of throbbing hate and judgement is still going? Of course. It's like watching hockey-- without the fights, it would be as interesting as the Gardening Channel. :) -Kerry O. |

Obama did not "add jobs" to the economy (governments do not create jobs, the private sector does. Anything the government "creates" comes at the expense of the real economy). He has created make-work jobs to prop up the economy temporarily
You do see what's wrong with that statement. don't you? Personally, I don't view all the highway construction jobs that were created and contracted out to private companies by the stimulus spending to be "make-work". For that matter, I think that the 159,000 jobs created in the private sector just in October last year shows a pretty good improvement over the job-loss legacy of the Bush administration. In any event, I don't think that the guy who has a job but didn't for the year before says, ""Damn! I am so ashamed that my pay-check comes from the United States Treasury". |

Companies that got the 'stimulus' spending for construction allread existed... Allready had employees... Did not 'hire' any new employees...
In some cases they 'fixed' roads that did not need to be 'fixed'... In other cases they worked on roads that were ALLREADY scheduled to be worked on. Not to mention that those same companies 'milked' 4 or 5 month projects into 10 or 12 month projects. In other cases they put 15 men on a 5 man job... Just more of the same rip offs that have helped put us in this mess... can you say 40,000 dollar toilet... or 7,000 dollar hammer? |

Companies that got the 'stimulus' spending for construction allread existed... Allready had employees... Did not 'hire' any new employees... So you think that all that time that there was minimal spending on infrastructure, these companies just continued to pay emplyees to do non-existent work.
In some cases they 'fixed' roads that did not need to be 'fixed'... And you know this . . . how?
In other cases they worked on roads that were ALLREADY scheduled to be worked on. That's why they were called "shovel ready".
Not to mention that those same companies 'milked' 4 or 5 month projects into 10 or 12 month projects. And you know this . . . how?
In other cases they put 15 men on a 5 man job... And you know this . . . how?
can you say 40,000 dollar toilet... or 7,000 dollar hammer? Yes, of course I can say, "40,000 dollar toilet... or 7,000 dollar hammer". I'm not illiterate. I believe you're referring to waste in the military.
