Shadows and Sunshine

Sometimes
the hardest part of living
is reliving time
when tears are the visceral reaction
to long ago moments
that still linger in our hearts

Sometimes,
when the world is cold and empty
and time refuses to move
all there is to keep us warm
are the fragile kisses that keep us going
together

Sometimes
a heavy heart
burn images of memories
that darkens our souls
until we forget what living means

And sometimes
loneliness shelters our senses
with shadows
of who we were
and what we dreamed of

Life hurts
sometimes
but some how some way
the sun rises
and love heals
