Last movie I saw was Green Lantern. With nobody to go with I won't go regardless of how good/bad the reviews are.

I don't pay attention to reviews or critics, critics don't have any better taste than anyone else.

Recently watched Thor and Captain America in prep for the Avengers.

Also watched the Lincoln Lawyer - was absolutely crap but I think that you should never watch the film if you've read the book(s).

Priest was also pretty bad.

but I think that you should never watch the film if you've read the book(s).

Totally disagree, otherwise I would have missed out on some really great films.

ok..you may have a point.

I'll amend and say that you should never watch the film if you really enjoyed the book

That definitely has some exceptions for me- I love the Lord Of The Rings books, and loved the films. And a few other film adaptations and their books as well.happy

The Lord of the Rings is a recognised exception so didn't bother to mention it bigsmile

Actually better say that comic book adaptations are also an exception apart from Ghostrider...that was just sooo bad laugh

Hahaha and Cage has a second one coming out.

I'm more lenient with comic adaptations, especially when the comic has been around for decades and has gone through many many changes over the years.

For books, I'm forgiving on changes if the core meaning of the book is still there. The original Planet Of The Apes made multiple changes from the original book because of budget constraints and effects limitations...and the movie is a classic. And even though it had nothing to do with the book, I ended up enjoying Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.

The Running Man is a horrendous adaptation that barely resembles King's book, but is still a fun cheesy movie.

Yeah I know and unfortunately, I’ll end up watching even though I can’t stand Nicolas Cage.

I agree. I am more forgiving of comic books adaptations - if you've read the Constantine comic book, you would have cried watching the film but even saying that Ghostrider was 100x worse laugh.

I also agree that the original Planet of the Apes was a classic. The Rise of the Planet of the Apes is one of the films that I’ve blocked from my memory.

Leave the Running Man alone that film’s a classic (in cheesy badness) and IMO, nowhere near as bad as the Talented Mr Ripley.

Hm, I thought Rise was really well done, now Tim Burton's version, that movie I've blocked from my memory.

Probably the worst film adaptation for me is Battlefield Earth 3000.

Yeah, I didn't like either but am more tolerant of Tim Burton's version because it didn't explain anything.

Don't know if you every watch Family Guy and Peter's reason for why he didn't like the Godfather...He said it "It insists upon itself". That's my feeling about 'Rise', it tried to be more than what it was IMO and failed. It should have been a Will Smith film. You watch, you enjoy and forget about it the moment you've left the cinema

Battlefield Earth was just terrible..words fail me

I don't watch Family Guy, though I did watch their Star Wars parody.

Rise went beyond what I was expecting. And I expected more from Burton's because it was Tim Burton, it didn't even feel like a Tim Burton film.

An American Werewolf In London, best transformation scene hands down.
