I honestly was prepared to be disappointed by this movie, and I truly wanted to kick the cop boyfriend in the noggin. Surprisingly, half-way through I found myself enjoying this film and I liked the valiant ending.

A movie with steroid-overdosed zombies. haha.

Oooh, never saw a horror film made like this before! It's a bit slow in the beginning, but the latter part almost borders on awesome. haha.

This movie is sometimes so ridiculous, it's brilliant! :)

A more detailed synopsis/review:

Bogliano sets himself apart from the creators of modern torture-porn with his distinct penchant for the off-beat, slightly absurd and logic-free slasher. Cold Sweat is no exception to the rule. It’s a silly plot focused on two friends, a young man and a woman, who together track down the man’s ex-girlfriend who strangely disappeared after meeting another man online. The pair track down her whereabouts by mobile phone, using IP address location, to a house in the middle of a crowded city. What they find inside is horrifyingly shocking. Two old crazy men, who decades before attempted and failed at launching an Argentinian revolution, but who in spite of their failure maintain a paranoid fervor for their cause, are luring young women to their home so that they can question and torture these girls in some rather bizarre ways.

While there’s more than enough in here to poke your finger at in disbelief, Cold Sweat is executed in a style that defies logic but yet keeps enough of a fast pace that you don’t overly question its inherent ridiculousness too much, at least not enough to inhibit your enjoyment of the film. Easily you’ll immediately be wondering how two old men, who can barely move about on their own, are capable of taking down such strong, able-bodied youth. This absurdity is only the tip of a large *** iceberg of incredulousness that permeates ever fiber of this film from beginning to end. The ability to turn ill-logic into good entertainment has been Bogliano’s calling card, and in a way Cold Sweat rounds out this informal trilogy of sorts, proving to be his most polished piece to date.

The key focal point of the film, and where the title is derived from, involves the use of nitro-glycerin. I won’t get into details that might spoil the film, but the tension Bogliano creates in these scenes hearkens back to the nail biting suspense I endured while watching Wages of Fear. Though considering the context of both films, such a comparison seems rather far-stretched and equally ludicrous. Clouzot’s film is an enduring masterpiece showcasing a virtuosity over the element of suspense that would rival Hitchcock. Bogliano utilizes the same tools, but in a more pulp manner with a bare bones story to support it. His camera spends an inordinate amount of time taking in all the curves of his voluptuous female victims in close-up, creating just as much titillation as he does suspense.

Cold Sweat worked best when it kept to its minimalistic roots, raising tension by utilizing a practical appeal to the senses. It wasn’t strikingly original in any way, but had an interesting spin that shouldn’t be completely forgettable. Helped along by a killer soundtrack that kept the pace rockin’, Cold Sweat is a solid bit of cinema to check the brain at the door and veg out to.
