Locked hair shows up in many religious beliefs. I wonder what the significance of the locked hair is about?

Um, how many religions have "locked" hair? I can't think of many. In fact, I can only think of Rasta.

Enlighten me.

What made me think of it was when I was putting one of our resident's hair up. She said she was of the belief of Christianity and kept her hair long. She had it up in a bun braided. She had me take the bobby pins and clippy connectors out and put this bun plastic thingy that helped the bun to stay put. Just about the time I thought I was done she wanted more clippy thingies and bobby pins put in it. She female aide that I was giving a break to came back from lunch and was just laughing and smiling at me. I was trying to go back to my floor since she was back from break but she was just having a ball watching me try to do this older lady's hair.
