The question asked in the final sentence is already answered in the first sentence. It's human nature to judge another initially hence the high value placed on first impressions. With that said Cathy returns to tapping on her piano keys & sings"I'll be making eyes at you".

not everyone is compatible , either in friendship or business or romance, judgment(or as I prefer, evaluation) is a way to quickly assess the likelihood of compatibility with another human it matters not WHY someone is a drunk as far as whether I will choose to hang around them, the WHY only matters in how I See them as a person plenty of cool people out there that I would still just assume not associate with,,, |

Very basically, we judge because that is how we navigate in this world. The dumb are those who think their judgment is the truth, the wise those who realize their judgment is colored by who they are, open to being proven wrong.

Though it is human nature to evaluate people we encounter either online or other settings based on first impressions, the conclusions we come to are frequently incomplete. Let's take for example, disabilities which can be found in all areas; physical, emotional, mental, health, financial and spiritual, and most of us experience one or the other sometime in our lives, and at times for the rest of our lives. However when we meet someone at the heart of our negative tendencies we choose to judge, categorize and criticize, setting ourselves apart. Why are people so quick to pass judgment when seldom do they know what roads people have traveled? Some people don't take the time to get to know, they just instantly judge. Me, I take time, I evaluate, I see how being around a person makes me feel. If I am uncomfortable, I ask questions, and if the answers don’t make sense. Then I remove myself from that person. No judgment, I do me, you do you! |

Judgments are a part of our psyche to help us learn and protect us from danger. But people do take it to a whole nuther level. Noone can legitimately judge another person for most of the many adjectives they use, it is all assumption. |

People "judge" because we're all looking for something. We all think that we have a certain type that we like and that perfect person is just going to fall into. It starts off physically and once you pass that initial aesthetic interview then we start tearing into your personality and your little quirks and we "weed" out the things that we don't like. We're scientific creatures by nature. Process of elimination; Take away all the things I don't like, and then Mr.Right will be left smiling at me.
I'm not saying it's right, just saying how it is. |
