why I am posting this. I guess I just need to vent.

So I have this friend--my best friend from high school--and I haven't seen her in a couple years so we were talking about making plans to visit and she told me that I could come visit her any time in July. So I was looking at flights and I figured out a good time to take off from work and I could get a decent flight, so I asked her if that was ok, even though she said "any time." She told me that was fine. Well, my flight is week after next, I've already booked it and she told me today that while I'm there, she has to go to a wedding and she said to bring something to wear. I have two major problems with this. 1. I NEVER go to weddings! EVER. And I will NEVER go to one unless it is one of my best friends or my sister's or my own. I just cannot bear to attend a wedding. 2. I have NOTHING to wear to a wedding! ALL of my dressy clothes are black and that just seems wrong to wear black to a wedding.
Grr...I'm really annoyed about this. If I had known, I would definitely have picked another time to visit.

Ok I'm done now and you can all tell me how rude, incosiderate and irrational I'm being. frown

No...BUT I will tell you to be flexible...Step out of the box...GO and enjoy yourself...You JUST might have fun and you never know who you might meet...Go shopping for something nice to wear with your g/f...Problem solved!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't have time to go shopping with her and besides why would I waste money on an outfit for someone's wedding that I don't even know--not to mention I would probably never wear the outfit again...Ugh. It's just a little more complicated than stepping "out of the box." Haha, that makes me think of the little kids show "Out of the Box." Haha..yeah.laugh

How long is your visit with your friend supposed to be?

Unless your visit is a one-day thing, and that day happens to be the same one as the wedding, then why couldn't you just hang around her place on the day she goes to the wedding? It makes no sense that she would force you to go....especially since it's not someone you know....

And I totally understand your feelings about going to weddings. I went to mine, and that's MORE than enough reason never to attend another one....
