if your routing for one team, you're automatically against the other team. The organization itself promotes racism just based on their premise... really? so If IM all for empowering women, I must be against men?,,,interesting theory I'm all for laws of EQUALITY laws that prevent certian colors or genders from doing specific things would be disgusting. However, in the absence of trying to change such laws(if they exist) then yes if you were for emporing women, it would create an atmosphere that men are still superior because that is the IDEOLOGY they are fighting...but don't even realize they are creating that very ideology by fighting it. We can see from the 'war on terror' that fighting an ideology is a never ending loop. However, as in any war if one side 'quits' there is no more war and that ideology dies.... I say ideology because if minorities/women STILL didn't have the same rights as many claim then how is a minority president? and how is a woman running for president? The truth is the same resources are available for anyone willing to try. However, some would rather whine then perservere imho |

Im gonna try one more time, would you deny that amputees need special accomodations to address their disability, or would you adhere to the theory that as long as they can become president they must not need any special accomodations,,,? So you are now calling being black or a woman a disability? no, Im calling the history of african americans in america a disabling factor to their being able to be of truly EQUAL status,, socially, economically, or educationally,,, by history , this is what I mean 1620 pilgrims in the NEW WORLD , right around the time of the first AFRICAN SLAVES through 1781, when the articles of confederation formed the US (and there were still african slaves) through 1865, when slavery of africans was abolished through 1965, when the last of the jim crow laws which LEGALLY assigned blacks to inferior status was repealed for a review, thats 345 years in which to be african american held a distinctly inferior status to any other BY LAW 345 years that people expect to be corrected in fifty five years if we count by generations, thats trying to undo 11 or 12 generations of culture and bias in only two generations,,, |

I have a multicultural background, I have found seven generations back on the side that is european(scottsmen), I have also found west indian,, but of my AFRICAN heritage(that by which I am most visibly identified as in america) I know nothing,,,as there were no records kept So then becuase I have some irish in my 7 generations back I should be Irish-American? If you have to go 7 generations back, you are no longer (blank)-American...you are a black American. and if that is the logic you are applying then you would be scottish-american. Im gonna try one more time, would you deny that amputees need special accomodations to address their disability, or would you adhere to the theory that as long as they can become president they must not need any special accomodations,,,?
people have achieved IN SPITE of inequality not because it stopped existing and I personally feel its quite ridiculous to suggest that the way to end negative trends and policies is to ignore them (not fight against them) whining is talking without action, but some would rather others shut up and let things continue the way they are than voice or express any real concerns I am not whining, I am stating my reality and the reality of the legacy of millions of african americans in this country NAACP isnt whining when it takes ACTION to make things more equal and fair So being black is a disability? hmmm...didn't know the NBA was considered the special olympics(there not, and sarcasm) because you are comparing apples to oranges. Tell me if one were to create an organanaztion for the advancement of white people that there wouldn't be a MEDIA frenzy on the RACISM that it promoted? |

No you are wrong I do get it HISTORICALY, however, we are not talking HISTORICALY we are talking PRESENTLY the NAACP did have a purpose once upon a time...however imo it has OUTLASTED it's purpose and only serves to HALT progress by continuining to 'preach' a HISTORICALY ideology that has LONG AGO been corrected(as far as the system goes) Blacks are no longer forbidden to attend certian schools, they are no longer forbidden to vote, they are not forbidden from public office, they have no restrictions on them...except the restrictions they choose to put on themselves in their own minds. they promote a 'victim' mentality when in reality not one of the people whining about slavery ever experienced it. The same people imo that use the color of their skin as an excuse are the same people that would find another excuse if their skin was a different color. |

The point being that if we continue to treat people as one being inferior than one being superior than that is what WILL happen. However, if we get rid of this stupid mentality that someone 'deserves' something based on a long ago past, then the mindset for them to 'live' in the past will never make room for the future. But we need to get rid of the 'guilty' mindset that is often taught... should the 7 yr old white girl feel the need to apologize for slavery and racism to her 7 yr old black friend? it's not her fault....but that seems to be the mindset that is taught and it is unfortunate because it CREATES RACISM |

Or should they be repudiated is really the question......but if that is indeed what happens at meeting across the country then they should be visiting the meetings of their supporter to know that this type of behaviour doesn't continue...... And that does not mean forget it or any other racial events towards anyone in the past....... |

Or should they be repudiated is really the question......but if that is indeed what happens at meeting across the country then they should be visiting the meetings of their supporter to know that this type of behaviour doesn't continue...... And that does not mean forget it or any other racial events towards anyone in the past....... as I said, I have never heard that type of statement at any OFFICIAL NAACP event (public events sponsored by the NAACP are a different category, in my opinion) even then, I doubt most members or organizers would condone or promote such speech and I would bet that something was said to him away from the cameras and the public about it |

WOW, im gonna be (selectively) racist here and assume that in this thread if you arent an african american , its just gonna continue going over your head,,, (I have had discourse outside of this thread on the topic with people of all colors who do get it,,so Im not inditing a race, just making an observation about THIS thread,,,) what additional ADVANCEMENT do whites(as a group) need in this country? where is the history to suggest they have ever(as a group)held inferior status or been denied opportunity and resources? The point being that if we continue to treat people as one being inferior than one being superior than that is what WILL happen. However, if we get rid of this stupid mentality that someone 'deserves' something based on a long ago past, then the mindset for them to 'live' in the past will never make room for the future. But we need to get rid of the 'guilty' mindset that is often taught... should the 7 yr old white girl feel the need to apologize for slavery and racism to her 7 yr old black friend? it's not her fault....but that seems to be the mindset that is taught and it is unfortunate because it CREATES RACISM I agree, I dont want nor need anyone to apologize to me for slavery and I dont wish to be given anything OVER someone else merely because of my race but the notion that groups like NAACP or HBCU which were founded for REAL AND SIGNIFICANT issues should have at some point disbanded and ceased their efforts or changed their names, makes no sense to me its a reminder of both how far we have come and what it is we fight not to return to,, they WERE not they ARE there ideologies are old, If there was a group of scientist still preaching the earth was flat they should disband as well...because there is no longer a need. |

McGill: The charter, from 1911, delineates our mission: “to promote equality of rights and to eradicate caste or race prejudice among the citizens of the united states; to advance the interest of colored citizens; to secure for them impartial suffrage; and to increase their opportunities for securing justice in the courts, education for the children, employment according to their ability and complete equality before law.” It stands then that, as a branch, our activities should seek to address these goals on a local level. |

But we need to get rid of the 'guilty' mindset that is often taught... should the 7 yr old white girl feel the need to apologize for slavery and racism to her 7 yr old black friend? it's not her fault....but that seems to be the mindset that is taught and it is unfortunate because it CREATES RACISM I agree, I dont want nor need anyone to apologize to me for slavery and I dont wish to be given anything OVER someone else merely because of my race but the notion that groups like NAACP or HBCU which were founded for REAL AND SIGNIFICANT issues should have at some point disbanded and ceased their efforts or changed their names, makes no sense to me its a reminder of both how far we have come and what it is we fight not to return to,, they WERE not they ARE there ideologies are old, If there was a group of scientist still preaching the earth was flat they should disband as well...because there is no longer a need. seriously, there is no need for civil rights? amazing,,, Yeah i think there needs to be equal civil rights laws and I do not think the NAACP needs disbanding but maybe changes to make it effective against criticisms on business conduct as any organization needs from time to time and based upon todays ideologies and improvement needs over yesteryear's I agree that business conduct needs to remain professional |
