computer or internet service ?
it takes me 4 or 5 minutes to watch a 2 minute video on youtube. have to let it load up before I can watch it. I have cable internet but not the upper grade, or what ever you call it, and a fairly slow puter..

Sounds like you need to do some maintenance. If you are using windows CCLeaner will help a lot but MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR SETTINGS IN CASE YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOOSE THINGS LIKE BOOKMARKS OR SAVED (Online) GAMES, PASSWORDS, ETC..

OS-X is way different. It sounds to me like your temporary folder is full or getting there.

Also the issue could be traffic on the internet. When you hit "peak hours" bandwidth can be consumed and your connection slows.

Also if you are using windows MALWAREBYTES! Use the free version and use it to run a scan on your computer for Malware. Its Icon is a red square with a white M in it. You can get it from Filehippo or from their own web site. There is a pay for version but the free version works just ducky! It gets crap Anti Virus cannot usually. You may also want to schedule a Boot Sector Scan with your Anti Virus too.

If I remember though OS-X and Linux variants usually have some kind of "Clean Out" setting in them that empty temporary folders and other stuff like that but I am not sure what plug in, add on, or command that is. Try the help section of your computer for that information if you are using an alternative OS other than windows.

Thanks Andy. I use the malware and an anti virus, I deleted cookies. I installed some kind of cleaner a couple of years ago, I'll see if I can find it and run it. this problem is an on going think and getting worse, maybe the puter is wearing out ohwell

You could have bad RAM in your computer too. One fast way to check is to open your System Manager and see how much RAM it is showing. A good hijack can Zombify your computer making it do things like put out spam which gobbles RAM up so run a Boot Sector scan just to be sure. You will have to restart your computer to do that.
Another thing to look at is how much RAM do you have and how old is your computer. If you are running less than 2G of RAM then you are a little light for serious streaming video.

Also you may need to update your browser if you have not done that in a while! Having an outdated browser can contribute a lot to the problems you are describing. In Fire Fox sometimes a bad add on or plug in can also have bad effects. I have had to disable plug ins before due to conflicts within the browser.

the puter is about 5 years old and 1.18G of ram. maybe that's my main problem.
thanks for the help..

in the tech world, anything older than 6 months is obsolete...sounds like maybe its time to upgrade the equipment a bit...

we dont have his sys specs or the requirements/name of the operating system or processor . I'd double the RAM and run a defrag.exe from the command prompt window (windows OS), toss the fragments & load down programs that start w/ ur OS.

It is impossible to be any more specific w/out ur specs

I just upgraded my internet services and everything is greatly improved. I just watched 2 videos on youtube, with 2 other tabs open, and it worked great. Now I can even listen to pandora while posted here.
