I just want to meet a Christian guy that really loves God and is a true believer that fears for Him. Emmie, Mingle2 is an international website. Just where in the world must a Christian man be in order for you to befriend him? |

Welcome. Be very careful in using the internet to meet people. The forums here are a good way to get a feel for a person's personality and is, by itself, a pretty safe way to mingle.
Good luck. Go slow. |

I am also looking for a faithful, God fearing man who is compassionate and understands his role as head of house but also understands that life is large and varied and is not bigoted and so proud that he feels that his is the only way. God made this world varied and full of life that we are to trust not plod over with our high falutent demogoguery. I love the Bible, but is there a Christian man out there who can also say, there are parts of the Bible that I just plain don't understand! and most pastors still grapple with theological issues. Why can't the words of Jesus be enough?

MsMila gives me the impression that she wants a man who does not base Christian orthodoxy solely on the Bible. I, too, am opposed to modern-day Pharisees, but it is inappropriate for a Christian to base orthodoxy on what the World wants and believes.
The Apostle Paul warns us not to conform to the World (Romans 12). |

Sir, yes, I still grapple with Christian doctrine that endorses that anyone who is non-Christian i.e. muslim, jew is somehow beneath or inferior because they do not accept Jesus Christ as savior. He is my savior and I will defend that, but will I hate my fellow man/woman because they do not agree with me or want to understand my doctrine?
Not sure why it is so hard for a person with continued questions (which is a normal human reponse) and who has so much faith to be ridiculed or belittled in such public forums. Thank you sir for showing us your integrity if not your real face. |

Thank you sir for showing us your integrity if not your real face. Hi MsMila! I was not aware that the Christian doctrine endorses us to hate anyone who is not a Christian. The great commission is share the good news with others and the greatest commandments are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love our neighbors as yourself. When Jesus was asked who is a neighbor, he responded with a parable of a good Samaritan man helping a man wounded and left for dead while the religious hypocrites walked by and looked the other way. (Samaritans were despised by Jews at this time, which makes this parable even more amazing and shows us how we are to treat others! Luke 10:25-37) A true Christian would have a heart for the Muslims, Jews, or anyone else who is confused or does not know the truth and would keep them in prayer. There is a wild fire revival going on right now in Muslim nations and around the world where many are putting their life in jeopardy everyday for the sake of the Gospel and the Lord Jesus Christ. I would be Very wary of any church or group that demeans people in anyway. We are all made in the image of God and it is His will that not one would perish and that all would repent and come unto the knowledge of God. Blessings |

I still grapple with Christian doctrine that endorses that anyone who is non-Christian i.e. muslim, jew is somehow beneath or inferior because they do not accept Jesus Christ as savior. That isn't a Christian doctrine. It is not what the Bible teaches. The above-quoted argument is a "straw man" argument. Rejecting Christ Jesus as the only Savior does not make a person inferior. It simply prevents the person from having eternal life. Here is what I say in my commentary Hard Questions About Christianity: Christians believe that the resurrection of Jesus is a historical fact and that the resurrection verifies that Jesus is God-incarnate, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Now if Jesus is indeed God, then Jesus is the ultimate authority on how to have eternal life (a.k.a. how to go to Heaven).
In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Now if what Jesus said is true, then other faiths are not alternate paths to God. To deny what Jesus said is to deny the Christian faith altogether. Still, people who are Christians need to guard against presenting their faith in a way that is unnecessarily abrasive. Abrasiveness is what gives people the impression that Christians are hateful. By the way, I have met plenty of Messianic Jews who accept Jesus as being the only way to Heaven. They are destined for Heaven, too. They just don't apply the label "Christian" to themselves. |

For the record, I was not trying to ridicule MsMila. I simply gave feedback as to what message from her that I received.
I apologize to MsMila for being too harsh on her. Sometimes the message that we intend to send to others isn't the message that others receive. Here's the deal. We Christians do argue about stuff that I consider to be petty, and sometimes we Christians add our own rules and regulations to what the Bible teaches. In other words, we sometimes behave like Pharisees. I agree with MsMila in that I, too, don't want to be hooked up with a Pharisee. Yet, there are times when a Christian must stand firm and defend the basics of the Christian faith. One of those basics is the fact that the only way to Heaven is through Christ Jesus. Jesus Himself taught that doctrine. Show me a person who rejects what Jesus said in John 14:6, and I will show you a person who rejects the Christian and/or Messianic Jewish faith. Christians and Messianic Jews believe that Christ Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Insisting that Jesus is the only way doesn't make a person a Pharisee. Instead, it makes the person orthodox. I don't usually make a statement defining Christian orthodoxy, but since this thread is about what makes a Christian man "good", I insist that a "good" Christian man is a man who believes that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. If a woman denies that Jesus is the only way to Heaven, then she isn't seeking a "good" Christian man. |
