The 10th of what? And why, is specail happening?
I had one of those earlier this week, Monday actually, but they don't mean a lot. They will mean more in 10 years I suspect! Maybe the thrill of catching another one Or perhaps, sneaking past the

Hi Ray and Tim
Life is good. Just got back from shopping and having supper. Miserable day here though cold and rainy.
is it ever going to stop?
Well Tim, I'm over it. I will be happy to report that we haven't had a shake for awhile, when the time comes |

As I Posted earlier Tim, about 80% of the locals just ignore or don't notice the shakes under 4 on the oh shirt scale. I am 1 of that number. The other 20% are in resthomes and have others to worry for them.

OK, when a shake takes place at say,30kilometers, and at 4 on the scale, you will know it. The same shake @ 4-5kilometers, will really rip your nighty! These distances are the depth at which the shake was centred. I assume you know what causes an earthquake, and the force of the movement"comes to a head" at a point where there is a weakness in a faultline. Hence the difference in distances below the surface. A shallow quake causes more trouble because its energy hasn't gone far before it surfaces. I personally would not care to be anywhere near a quake that was centred near the surface, regardless of its size!
'twould be a shocker!
