Have you run into people who seem open and friendly online but shy and withdrawn in person?...Why the difference? I guess it's easier to open up when we're sitting behind a screen in the privacy of our home...versus meeting and interacting with people in a face-to-face kind of way...Some people seem open and friendly in their profiles but stiff and closed when "approached."...Have you run into any of this?

I can reelate to being a little shy on a first date...But I don't want to go into hiding or let my fears and insecurities get the best of me.

"I guess it's easier to open up when we're sitting behind a screen in the privacy of our home." Don't know why people ask questions when they already know the answer, but yeah, there you have it. It is a comfort to be behind a screen. I'm rather shy for a little bit but I warm up quick, of course I think a lot of people would be kind of closed off being taken out of their comfort zone whether it be their home or neighborhood. |

The people I have met IRL are pretty much the same way they were online. Personality-wise, I mean.

It can take a lot of coaxing to get me out of my comfort zone...I'm a hard "fish" to "catch" at times...

It is an enigma for sure. Some things I have shared with people Online about myself I couldn't share in real life but then there are things that I can share about myself in real life that I couldn't share Online. I am not sure if it is because I am an extroverted introvert or because I am introverted extrovert. The jury is still out on that one.

Let's see. On here, I say crazy stuff, laugh at things others won't, I make comments that make people wonder how I came up with said comments........and in real life? Eh.....I am the same. When buzzed, I am worse. But that's another story for another thread.

Ohh yeah even I have ran into that situation. I'm a talker but I don't like to have to carry on the conversation. I have talked to those online that could carry on a good conversation as well as on the phone. Then met them and wow it was a complete turn around. Hummmmm maybe I scare them at times hehehehe
