So this apparently is to be my new dog. I found him last Thursday on the back of the property dumped. He happily bounced over when I whistled at him. Took him to the SPCA and they told me $40.00 to drop him off, and as a "pit mix" he'd be put down. No if ands or buts, and no working with another rescue group to get him in.
Brought him home, have tossed out emails and such trying to get him adopted. He's already neutered, I had him taken and redid his shots. Funny, he doesn't look like a "pit mix" to me, and I'm really getting tired of that catch-all phrase. He could be catahoula, or heeler or any number of other breeds. Either way, he's 3 and a half months old, estimated to reach 50lbs. Named Freckles by mom. Smart little fart, and I've already got him working on come, sit, stay, down. 5 days now. |

I love pitties, but resent every dog getting lumped in as one, whether they actually are or not.

I agree Pits are beautiful dogs. And all those pics of the puppies are precious

Pitbull? Bulldog maybe? Or is it mixed with an American Pit Bull Terrier?
I'm kind of sick of people throwing pit bull out there when there isn't even a breed of dog considered pit bull. They're bull dogs, not pit bulls. Cool that you took it in though, that's awesome. Hopefully you can find a suitable family or just hold on the energetic little guy yourself. |

Looks like he has some spaniel in him by the markings.
But he has the typical bull terrier/pit face. Pits can be good dogs if they are bred and trained right. |

I have a friend and his pit mauled a 6 year old little girl she lost an eye and a year. And he's looking at 4 years, Mom says "those were good dogs they never did that." Well that what they all say till it happens. I feel sorry for everyone evolved. But the dogs.

Pitbulls get a bad name mostly from the doltishness of their owners.
All dogs should be watched around children. Our facial expressions do not mean the same thing to the dog that they mean to us. Children's faces are too close to the dog. http://www.atts.org/statistics.html Go to this web site and push the breed statistics and you will find that pits are not the most vicious dogs. We are fighting the ban here in Denver right now. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanpitbull.htm |

Well that what they all say till it happens. I feel sorry for everyone evolved. But the dogs. Sorry Mark, we will have to agree to disagree. Life injures and kills people, but that doesn't stop anyone from breeding. Dogs can hurt and kill people, birds and horses hurt people, cigarettes, alcohol hurt people, guns hurt people, cars, planes, trains, avalanches, floods, and earthquakes. People can hurt and kill people. Heck, padded safe rooms hurt people, and one day we will find the padding in the walls probably kills people too. One does what they can to minimize any of that, and even with all of my animals, I still watch and monitor their interactions. Blaming a whole breed for a few bad dogs, and bad people involved in that breed is unfair. Everyone screams racism, but its the same thing with a breed. |

The brat is doing good. He plays hard in the morning and sleeps during the heat of the day. Growing by leaps and bounds. I think he's doubled his size and weight within the week. Talkative boy too. Always watching what one days.
