so i'm on hold with tech support. i'm fairly certain my hard drive wont run windows at the moment. i know the data can be recovered because the same thing happened with my last hard drive. i'm asking for the disk to reload windows and a new disc drive because i dont think mine has ever worked at full capacity. question is...they're trying to sell me a new hard drive. i have two as it stands now. one thats crashed and one that has crashed and been recovered. is it wirth the $100 or should i just put it toward a new computer?

i'm going to try. i think i should be able to just reinstall windows but i'm not sure how to back up my info. i've been reading online about it but i have yet to do it myself. i watched when my last hard drive was restored but that is as close as i have been. i dont even think i'm going to go for the new cd drive, i think i will just save it for a new computer.

A hundred is a lot less than a new computer. Just sayin' yeah but not if it crashes in a year like this one. |

I'd throw a new drive in it and keep using it until it explodes. IMO, when something breaks, it's just an excuse to give it more power!

is it really any better to upgrade the hard drive if im using the same old processor?

is it really any better to upgrade the hard drive if im using the same old processor? Depends if you're happy with the speed of it to start with. If you want something faster it's normally not a big deal to upgrade. Especially if it's in a desk top. Why pay for a new case, power supply, CD rom, etc if all you need is one or two parts? Would you buy a new car if your car only needed brakes? Not likely. |

true. i really only need it to run itunes for ipad/iphone updates and the occasional page i cant view in flash. hmmmmm.

In that case, you could even get an older decent used laptop for what a new drive would cost.

*crossing fingers and toes* I hope I don't have to walk anywhere for 3 days........

haha thats going to make a 100 hour work week difficult Looks like I'll be rolling around on a creeper for the next few days then. lol |

can you actually cross your toes?
|
|
|
|
I'm pretty sure I can. Doesn't seem to work right now without using my hands. I'll have to get back to you with hands as now my toes are bit cramping and it's not much easier with socks on.

my toes are in a splint. i hate sleeping in the darn thing. i usually rip it off at about 6 or so. dont hurt yourself over there, i think fingers crossed will do.

In a splint? Don't you know that you're not supposed to kick rocks with no shoes on? It might be even harder working with my fingers crossed rather than my toes, so what about I cross my mustache instead?
