That may certainly explain it. This site usually isn't like putting in a job application and hoping for a call back.

Correct, without using the tools, a profile is nothing more than an advertisement.

The site gives you tools to work with. Try using the search option. Send emails. Simply having a profile is not taking full advantage of the site capabilities. Before you send emails, make sure your profile says something about you.

Profiles should include a current photo. Describe yourself on the profile, Your likes and dislikes, what you are looking for in a potential mate. You have to peak the reader's interest.
