They want someone who's not egregiously stupid to the point that it will endanger their lives; but they don't want anyone who has his own thoughts, his own mind, his own hopes and dreams and motivations. Because THEY want to be able to TELL him what his hopes and dreams and motivations should be -- they want to lead him around and direct his steps and ensure that he performs the "designated role." I don't see that as "intelligent" at all -- I see that as a puppet, a herd animal. But I don't think it plays well if you say "Looking for obedient puppet" in your profile. Again, I'm speaking strictly from my own experience here. There may be women who don't fit this mold. There may also be an invisible 900-foot-long vibrating mosquito hovering 12 feet over my head. |

My hunch is that they know, but would rather not have to deal with it -- if it gets in the way of their agenda. The more I think about it, the more I research it, the more it all seems to boil down to simple biology. |

I know you are NOT making a blanket statement, Lex, but I disagree with this statement. I could never, ever be with anyone who couldn’t hold their own around me. I have zero tolerance for stupid – including naiveté. He doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist; however, he must be able to communicate in a lucid manner both in written form and verbally – as well as having the ability to unwrap the toilet paper role. I would seriously go nuts around a “puppet”. I don’t want to be a “mommie”. I'd have to kill him for irritating me. |

seriously though women don't want intelligent men they want street smart men I want both. Someone that has common sense (street smarts) but that can also help me with my forensic anthropology and human osteology homework! |

An intelligent man to me is one who is worldly..Can hold his own in every way...Enjoys conversation about anything/everything...Is totally interesting and exciting...Isn't looking for a mother or slave, and isn't boring, or one track minded..He has to be challenging too..Be of good humour..Romantic..Exciting..Definitely not a puppet or puppeteer..Happy in all aspects of his life..
I could go on, but I can't be bothered...I do agree that some people who look for intelligence, wether it be male or female, do have no idea what intelligent may be.. |

Everybody (in my experience, with one exception) claims they want an intelligent guy. Then everybody (in my experience, with one exception) tries to get the intelligent guy to shut his brain off. It's reached the point where, not only can I count on it happening, I can also tell you almost to the day how long it will take before the attempts to change me will begin. It's happened enough times to constitute a statistically significant sampling. And every time I post something along these lines, people make a point to say "Well, I'm not like that," and maybe they're not -- I'll never know -- but it certainly comes across a sort of knee-jerk, defensive reaction. I'm not specifically referring to your comments here, I'm talking in general, Melody, because you've proven yourself an exception to the rule already -- all I'm saying is, if everybody says one thing, but all the actions I've seen demonstrate the polar opposite, which am I supposed to consider more valid? |

no you have it all wrong...my point is do women really know what an intelligent man is,i don't think so...really a man who shows respect well an intelligent man wouldn't calmly say he is just tryin to get in your pants, the woman is like ok then i'll move on even though they have a man right in front of them that knows the true meaning of respect
