For those of you who aren't versed in the bible of Psycho Killers, Ed Gein is the Grand Messiah. He was the guy who inspired the movies "Psycho", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and the Buffalo Bill character from "Manhunter". He looked like a mild mannered Wisconsin farmer and would babysit the local kids or share his "venison" with neighbors. Just a tad shy and a bit odd, but that was Mommy's fault - she was an Uber Religious nut who drilled into him that sex was dirty and all women were evil whores. So when the Need called, he robbed women's graves and took them home. He'd tan them, make clothes out of their skin, make furniture out of them and eat them (ahh.. the "venison"..see you catch on fast!). On his arrest they found interesting items like a belt made of nipples, a pair of lips suspended from a sting in the window, skull soup bowls, shrunken heads, skinned faces of women mounted on the walls like paper mache masks;; four noses in a cup on the stove, finger necklaces, a vest and leggings made out of a woman's torso and leg skin, various pubic regions with out their owners in a box under the bed. Human parts frozen for future dinners were found stuffed into the freezer and a human heart was in that pan on the stove. The town store keeper was trused up and gutted, hanging upside down like a deer in his shed. Ed thought this stuff up all on his own, which was the novelty of it all. Ed died in 1984 in a mental institution. This is a photo of his kitchen at the time of his arrest, and a police officer who was on the scene investigating it. You can bet if this happened today some lawyer would have gotten Gein off on the "Sugar Defense" and he'd have been out in 3 years - poor Ed, the Psycho Mommy Abused Victim of his Childhood, you see. Such is the American Way. ...............

Steve Railsback did a really good job of portraying Gein in In the Light of the Moon...on the other hand, Kane Hodder was horribly miscast as Gein in Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield, the movie itself is a joke, whoever made it had no clue about Gein. |

Invasion Of The Blood Farmers 1972
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SI1D4_HcKCs Hilariously bad. True redneck film making- the cast members were supposedly given six-packs of beer instead of money. |

i never knew they made a movie actually about him... And before In The Light Of The Moon, the closest movie to being about Gein was Deranged from 1974, Roberst Blossom(the old guy from Home Alone) played Ezra Cobb- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgLhy9rMdkM&feature=related |

The Devil Creates a 'Gathering' of Horror Greats
The Devil gathers four of history’s greatest horror writers to share their scariest stories on Halloween. The result? Horror stars uniting. Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees in various Friday the 13th), Gunnar Hansen ("Leatherface" in Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Judith O'Dea ("Barbara" in Night of the Living Dead), Udo Kier (Suspiria, Blade), Doug Bradley ("Pinhead" in Hellraiser) and William Sadler (The Mist) lead an all-star cast for Jon Keeyes' The Gathering, which IMDB also says stars Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger), David Naughton (An American Werewolf in London), Debbie Rochon and many more horror vets. Shooting is scheduled for 4th quarter of this year. Here's the plot crunch: "It’s All Hallow’s Eve in purgatory and the Devil has gathered Edgar Allen Poe, Bram Stoker, H.P. Lovecraft and Mary Shelley for a night of storytelling; the winner receiving whatever they desire. Between snide remarks and bickering rivalries, each takes a turn unveiling their tales that include vampires, werewolves, zombies, ghosts, serial killers, and mad scientists. 'The Gathering' follows the successful anthology format with the Devil and the horror authors rounding out the framework. All popular with enormous cult followings, this modern take on the personalities and quirks of these literary legends is often hysterical and genuinely macabre. Contained within the inner stories are unique and original tales that will appeal to the broad mass of horror enthusiasts." http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/indie.php |
