Unlike most holidays, there is not much of a reason for the Civic Holiday to exist, other than its timing. Between Canada Day and Labour Day, there are no recognizable holidays, one of the longest stretches of time on the Canadian calendar without a holiday. (In terms of legal holidays, the winter stretch between Family Day and Easter is occasionally longer, but unofficial holidays such as Saint Patrick's Day and Valentine's Day are observed during that time.) I ate too much junk yesterday so I am watching what I eat this weekend this has to be a first Are you implying that I eat too much??? you said it not I Well you would be right. We had Washington's and Lincoln's now it is just one. We had flag day in June and Veteren's Day in November

We have Remberance Day for the Veterans on Nov.11

We had Washington's and Lincoln's now it is just one. We had flag day in June and Veteren's Day in November In Iowa, we still honor Veterans Day and Flag Day. In schools, we recognize both of the Presidents on their birthdays, altho, the Fed. holiday is only the one day. On Veterans Day, state and Fed. employees get the day off.

Yeah but before post offices and banks closed for all those holidays. I'm not sure about the post office but I know the banks don't anymore. They don't close school here for those days either

Yeah but before post offices and banks closed for all those holidays. I'm not sure about the post office but I know the banks don't anymore. They don't close school here for those days either Banks/post office close here for Veteran's Day. Never have for Flag Day, it's just a day that all Americans should honor the flag...kind of like mothers and fathers day...you do it to honor them.
