Do you have any "friends" that just make you want to ring their necks sometimes? Or how bout those that it seems their sole purpose in life is to tell you all their problems and not listen to yours? How can you call yourself a friend if you are the only one benefitting from the relationship?

*gets off of soap box...again*laugh

I've had this very same issue recently. There's really nothing you can do about it. We live in a very narcissistic world now-a-days, and as hard as it may seem, most things are best left up to you to decide the final outcome.

Funny thing is I've known this guy for years. We were just talking a while ago and he was telling me about an ex. Then when I started talking, he kept interrupting with inane questions like "Is he a Christ follower?" and just randomly changing the subject. I thought we were swapping stories...guess I was wrong. ohwell You know what happens when you assume.

Suzanne, most ppl are just plain idiots. Insensitive and borish. This happens to me and my daughter alot. It takes a rare person to hear your side of the story, it could have been he's just a jerk, or he is an emotional jerk, which most ppl are. Find a new friend to talk to or come here to talk, I feel your pain.

That is exactly why I post things like thislaugh

I like what Roseanne said about people..."I am a great judge of character, that's why I don't like none of 'em."

My great friend of 48 years sometimes drives me out of my mind...He tells me over and over and over how he is feeling bad, and i tell him over and over and over that he needs to see the Doctor, but then he just puts it off till finally he ended up in the hospital.

frustrated Makes me want to screamfrustrated And yes my beautiful friend....I will trade youlaugh laugh

not sure here... what are you losing by it? do people have to "gain" from a friendship? helping people is not a good thing? maybe they might not be the friends you think they should be, but they are not hurting you or taking advantage of you... maybe look for a new friend that will listen better.

I was reflecting on the OP comment ,and remembering times when I was better at listening than others because it was a tough time for me. It's good to be sensitive to where the other person is coming from....like r they realistically too upset about something to listen?

on the other hand, I have on & off been acquainted with those types who try to talk over u every time you speak - not just accidentally interrupt part way thru, but literally u never get to finish more than a word or two - for them I'd say to move on

Have you ever noticed though that...sometimes with your very best friends you have never noticed that they step over you when you talk? I have a best friend that comes over and IF my mom is here, after my best friend leaves my mom always asks me how I put up with her talking OVER me! I actually never noticed it UNTIL I started paying more attention. Now I am thinking...OK she did it again!!
SO MY QUESTION IS..WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU FRIENDS STEP OVER YOU AND YOU HONESTLY DON'T THINK THEY EVEN NOTICE!!
DO YOU SAY SOMETHING?
DO YOU JUST STEP OVER THEM?
UGGG WHAT SHOULD I DO??

Yeah, they'll tell you. But only after they let you walk around like that for an hour or so - for the comedic value!! laugh
