I AM getting old when fluffy slippers turns my crank.

I was up this morning until 4...could not sleep... then up again at 10. I feel goofy today....should be doing something productive....but what the hay!!!!

Now that's funny....Mo likes them too

It's the humidity we have here not so much the heat.
I should have done more writing since that is the new promise I made for myself. So what I did do at least, is start to write down some of the nursery rhymes my grandmother and I used to remake. Stuff like.

Paddy cake, paddy cake bakers man
bake me a cake as fast as you can
Open up the box and throw it in a bowl
stick it in the oven for an hour or so.

I teach pre-school and kindergarten so I am always doing stuff like that....make up a bunch of poems or songs for the theme that we are doing...You'll have to email me some of your Nursery Rhymes, would love to see them!

What type of writing are you most interested in doing Chris?

I am just starting out but have compiled years of research on the things I want to write. I am waiting for Deb (kidztales??) to send me some links she mentioned to me last week.

A man's guide on issues concerning women. I do charity for for The White Ribbon Campaign.
A compilation of short stories loosely based on things I have learned over the past few years.
Short articles about the things my grandmother taught me.
I want to try and stay positive although many of the subjects do deal with violence in our world.

I just started on the nursery rhymes today and they may not be suitable for children.

This is another from my grandmother.

Mary had a little lamb,
her father killed it dead.
Now Mary takes that lamb to school,
between two slices of bread.

My brother used to always say:
"Mary had a little lamb.....
the doctor sure was surprised!"

It must be very fulfilling to be working with children. I used to be a boy scout leader in my late tens and 20's.
I have been told I missed my calling and make a good teacher.
I envy you in that respect.

It's never too late to go back to school ya know. I just got my degree this past May after being a teacher's associate for 25 years!

I just don't have the money. The school system can really use some good men in the early years of education too. I am very good with children and at least with the volunteering, I get to interact with them from time to time.

I just need to really begin to write and see what interests me the most. Writing for children has come to mind but I never gave it serious thought. Most of my writing has been long emails to the friends in my life. I seem to gravitate to women who have been abused of are sick so I try to make them feel good in words. I only seem to hurt when I see other people hurt. I have never had trauma in my own life but have seen so much of it around me.

Yes, the elementry age children sure could use men. So many do not have any good role models. As for the cost, yeah, I will be paying off student loans when I'm retired....LOL....but it was so worth it! Saved my sanity, going to school, after my husband passed.

Hi Carole, we just had a wicked squall come through here and it has cooled things down a bit.

We're supposed to get that tomorrow.. it will be welcomed.. Its even toooo hot to stay in the pool...lol

Evening! Yes, I am. After all the rain it has cooled off...course I have not left the house today either..

One of my cousins studied theology and was to become a priest but he fell in love and now teaches. We keep in touch and he has been an inspiration for me. He is a wonderful man and a role model.
