yea, i know the history, i'm not that proud of it... but i thought we were takling about the issue, not how badly the indians were treated

Noooooo, her statement was taken out of context...have you watched the entire speech??? and BTW I speak to ALL racist...but let's be real here, white people pretty much started this thing off in America dating all the way back to their treatment of the Native Americans/Indians...we can agree on that right???? 
That would be a broad generalization fallacy, so no we can't agree on that. |

if you think about history, white people didn't really start controlling or doing anything until about 300-400 years ago...before that, it was romans, greeks, mongols, mostly middle eastern and Mediterranean peoples...and Egyptians... all non white. and the indians were wiped out by settlers, most British, Spanish, and french.

Maybe if the farmer wouldn't have been so preoccupied with trying to prove his superiority to her then she would have not been hesitant to "do all that she could for him". She did however take him to a white lawyer who she thought would help him save his farm. When she became aware that this was not the case she immediately started making phone calls and doing all that she could to help this man keep his home.
No matter how people try and twist it, the point of her telling that story is to say that she realized that people are not only discriminated against because of their race but also because they are poor. And she was right! Also please understand the times she grew up in...her father was murdered by racist and crosses were burnt in front of her home...I have had some bad things happen to me but I can only imagine how scary it was to live in a time of slavery and lynchings. |

I'm aware that racism exist all over the world and has for a long time. I was recently reading the Book of Exodus in which the Egyptians enslaved the Hebrews because they were becoming too numerous in numbers. Go figure... |

There are always going to be people that don't like someone else. Whether its race, religion, or they have a bigger house and a better car. You aren't going to change it, so I don't understand why every time someone says something stupid it has to lead the news headlines for a week. There are far more important things to be concerned about than dumb **** like this..

If they're withdrawing the story, it's because (1) it has already served the purpose for which it was released, or (2) it was originally 'released' with the full knowledge it would be withdrawn within a specific timeframe ... this is politics, folks - in politics, NOTHING happens by 'accident' ...

So very true....I mean.....sometimes it seems like 80% of everything anyone says, even in everyday conversations, would be better replaced with this phrase. OTOH... you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you don't come out swinging with a strongly worded statement right away, people will accuse you of other things - like cowardice, lacking moral fiber, prevarication, double speak, willful or inexcusable ignorance etc etc. |
