While it doesn't work for me some couples seem to thrive off of the argument and make-up later game plan. I think these kinds of differences might work for a couple like that but I don't care for arguing all the time. The couple in question would have to both be VERY non-judgmental which usually isn't the case when dealing with extreme right and left wing types.

Certainly don't thrive on (or even like) a "lot" of conflict msmyka, but I really like what soufie said..QUOTE:

Religion, politics, standards, to each
his own.
I do not see the point in getting together
with anyone who cannot carry their own opinions
and allow you yours. It is individuality.
If you screen for matching points, you lose
uniqueness, those things that make us who we are.

Clones are left.
You may feel at home with them.
But geez...boring.
I don't want to look at myself all day.
If you love enough, you celebrate the differences.

I couldnt do it,, but I think those who do are awesome.

I don't need a clone, but I do need someone with enough things in common to build a foundation with,,,,, politics and religion being fairly important things for me

I'm all for opinions but some of these types of views effect how we live our lives and in return treat others.

and I HATE being condescended too, and those conversations about political or religious beliefs seem far too often to turn into some condescending diatribe,,, (particularly with men for some reason,,lol) , as if different opinions makes one smarter or more enlightened than the other,,,

The "big" things sure......(was going to give examples, but pointless)...Isn't "some" compromise or at least allowance what it's all about.

vague I know

oh absolutely,, my word is BALANCE, there has to be some consensus on those things that are priority issues, but still enough individuality to learn new things from each other and help each other grow

It really all depends on where your personal "line" is. As msharmony said I will absolutely not be talked down to.

NEVER compromise the things that matter...be clear on what that "IS".

Gosh...that was so easy to "say".
