Topic: Shooting A Gun | |

I recently took my first lesson in shooting a gun at a range.
Question: Would you have trouble shooting an intruder? Would you shoot to kill? |

You should NEVER use that description in making a statement to the police after you have shot an intruder as it most likely will be taken as an intent of pre-meditated murder. The proper statement to use after having shot an intruder is "I shot to stop the THREAT of personal harm to myself and my family"

Always shoot for body mass & to protect you & your's.
If that causes someone to die, that is their problem. |

Only use a gun 'cause somethin' needs shootin'....targets, critters, game, intruders, ect...they're all the same

Geez. I was just curious if folks knew if they had it in them to actually shoot someone. I hadn't planned out my statement to the police or who would take care of my pets when I go to the slammer!

Wyo has a self defense clause in their laws...If someone is in your house and you feel threatened, deadly force is considered reasonable. Falls under self defense. Maybe that why there has not been a burglary in my are since I cannot remember when. Not unusual to someone in town packing a warmer on their hip. Every house has a closet full of guns and everyone knows how to use them, makes ppl a little cautious to bust in....lol...I think several states have similar laws.

I grew up with guns and was shooting at 6...no, I wouldn't shoot to kill. I'd blow off a foot to slow em down but could not not and would not want to ever kill anyone!!

Yes, I would shoot an intruder. I didn't invite him/her to break into MY home. I will shoot to kill. Point of aim is always BDCM (Bottom Dead Center of Mass). I keep my magazine staggered with ball and hollow-point rounds. The ball ammo gives penetration into vital organs. The hollow-points create a massive wound channel. I'm only looking to accomplish ONE thing when I'm forced to pull that trigger: Shut down the Central Nervous System of the perp as quickly as possible. I'm not particularly concerned with whether or not others who won't be involved with that necessity have to say about my choice of tactics.
If you want the complete statement for the cops, it's: "Officer, I was in imminent fear for my life. I fired to stop the threat." After you say those words: SHUT UP. |

I recently took my first lesson in shooting a gun at a range. Question: Would you have trouble shooting an intruder? Would you shoot to kill? If it was necessary, but not if it could be avoided. If he came at me with a knife, absolutely. |

If it comes to the point where you are going to shoot someone you ARE shooting to kill. It's not like the cowboy movies where you just "wing" him. Guns are meant to kill things, and they do a pretty good job of it whither you mean to or not.

If someone came into my house, I get the dogs after them. Do you know that a intruder is less likely to shoot a dog than a human being? Its a strange world out there, as a woman...you muight have a different answer.

Yes,if someone was threatening my family..you bet your boots, the intruder would be shot. If he died from it, I'd hate that, but I could live with it.
