Topic: "Sprinting" towards thc Cup | |
---|---|
Just heard that Nascar is losing Nextel as it's sponsor, and, starting
next year, their new sponsor will be Sprint. That's right, folks, next year, Jeff, Tony, Dale,Jr.,Jimmie, and the rest will be competing for the "Sprint Cup". That dosen't even SOUND right. Any suggestions for a better name? I know Sprint is now the sponsor, but even they've gotta realize how crappy the term "Sprint Cup" is. |

NASCAR's top series to be renamed Sprint Cup in 2008: Beginning with the
2008 season, Sprint will replace Nextel as title sponsor of NASCAR's premiere racing series, multiple high-ranking industry sources told ESPN.com on condition of anonymity. The series will be known as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, sources said. NASCAR declined comment. Dean Kessel, Sprint's NASCAR marketing director, denied the claims, and said Sprint/Nextel is still sorting the proposition out with NASCAR. Kessel also said that multiple outstanding details must be finalized internally before a decision can be made either way. This would mark the third time in four seasons NASCAR's Cup Series experienced a sponsorship-based name change. From 1972-2003, the Cup Series was sponsored by R.J. Reynolds tobacco through its Winston cigarette brand. Then, starting in 2004, Nextel assumed the naming rights to the most popular racing series in America.(ESPN.com)(6-20-2007) Jeff & Ingrid Gordon proudly announce the birth of their daughter: Earlier today, Jeff Gordon and Ingrid Vandebosch welcomed a new daughter into the world. Ella Sofia Gordon was born at 9:09 a.m., weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. “It’s been an absolutely incredible experience,” Gordon said. “Ingrid came through amazingly and we’re both really happy and overjoyed. We can’t wait to get home and start our lives together as a family.” The four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion will travel to Northern California later this week and is scheduled to participate in all on-track activities at Infineon Raceway, site of this weekend’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race. |

I have the ultimate name..The HIC Cup..The sport was started by Hics and
they all ran Moonshine in their hot rods so they could evade the cops! When they sat around drinking the stuff and pouring it in the gas tanks they would get the HicCups!! |

Geez, the way it's going how about The Hendrick's Cup
|
|
|
|
lil...the other teams are not dead..They will catch up and they will be
competitive. The COT is an expensive transition and a completely different car with a lot of different rules to follow. The 7-post shaker is a very expensive device that the bigger teams have got ahold of that allows them to set up the cars a lot closer than normal before going to the track. This gives them an advantage over the have nots. These are the kinds of things that Hendricks has always been ahead on and it gives them an obvious edge! |
