My parents have it right, about to celebrate their 42nd anniversary. It starts with mutual respect and trust. They don't throw hints at each other, although they don't always agree, they do always allow each other to say what's on their minds. They never berate or degrade each other. And most importantly they have left no gray area when it comes to their wedding vows. They both agree totally that a first betrayal is the LAST betrayal.
