Topic: Salvage rights? | |

I don't know the maritime salvage rights law.... but it seems to me that if the United States can plug up the oil leaking in the Gulf that we should have salvage rights to the pipe. But if we did, would we be responsible for the damages that the oil is causing?

I'm not sure salvage rights would be worth anything since I don't think they would cover the oil that is in the ground.
Salvage rights usually only cover the ship and the cargo. |
