If you are with someone (on a date or as friends or whatever) and the other person tells a joke that you find offensive or inappropriate, do you
1. tell them off (whether in a nice way or let them have it) 2. remain silent or walk away 3. give a little chuckle to not make waves 4. laugh like it doesn't bother you and explain your answer and why you chose this response |

Tell them my opinion & see where it goes.
If they continue, I walk away. |

|
I just tell them that it was a stupid joke.......

5. None of the above.
I never find jokes offensive. If it's not funny I wont laugh, but I'm not so uptight that I would find humor offensive. |

I give them my disgusted look--no words are necessary--it says it all!

2. remain silent or walk away
Then when they least expect it I'll embarrass the hell out of them if I can't embarrass them at the moment. Don't feel the need to have to embarrass them in front of the person they embarrassed me in front of. Just so they know I haven't forgotten & knows how it feels!!! Revenge is a dish best served cold!! ![]() |

I give them my disgusted look--no words are necessary--it says it all! This usually works for me too. If not, I'll try to tell them in a nice way. But I'm not that easily offended. |

Hey the way I look they immediatly laugh and then pay me for sex!!(NOT!!)

I don't get offended easily either, but there are some things that are off limits to me and humor. If the person doesn't know me well, I might give them a look or politely say something. If they continue or they know me, then I'm very blunt and have my say and then walk away

If it is not funny I don't laugh at it if I don't get the joke I will just say okay with that lost look on my face. Most jokes if they are funny do not offend me at all they are just jokes... Some I do get tired of but hey if they are funny I will laugh at them if not I want. If they offend me then I would be one to speak up and say I really don't care for those kind of jokes....

If they continue or they know me, then I'm very blunt and have my say and then walk away As my sister used to say (By the way I got her to join Mingle, she's getting divorced) "What is inappropiate?" It's kind of our little private joke. So Kim, what do you mean by inappropiate? Rated R? Rated X? Racial? Sexist? Sexual? Gross? All are fair game to me, I will laugh if the joke is funny, but I will not get offended. More often than not, I get offended when people are being serious, or if they bluff that are being serious. Otherwise joke away, do not let me censor you, it's all in good fun. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't like racist jokes or jokes involving molestation or rape (for example) Those that know me personally know how I feel about these jokes. Those that don't know me, I give them the benefit of the doubt and let them know I don't find them funny. |

Those that don't know me, I give them the benefit of the doubt and let them know I don't find them funny. See, there's the problem. At least for me. Racist or race-oriented jokes are fine for me, as long as they are told in the context of humor and this does also include jokes made against my own race. I have no racial pride, and I am most certainly not racist, nationality biased but not racist. None whatsoever, joke away, make fun of my race, as long as it's done in a humorous context. I've been to several comedy shows where a black or latino comic made fun of white people, and I thought they were absolutely hilarious. The other things you mentioned, molestation and rape, very not funny, unless you are using Catholic priests in your joke. Anyhow, Kim, you be who you are, don't let anyone ever tell you different. ![]() |

This is why I asked the question. I, also, know that without speaking up, then someone may not know I don't like it and that I can get up and walk away too. I control myself and my actions. I can't keep someone from telling these jokes, but I can decide to speak up or just walk away |

I totally believe in freedom of speech.
The chances, that in this lifetime, everybody I know will think the same as I do are very slim. Like Tribbles, if it is not funny, I will not laugh. That exercises my rights. A bigger problem for me is inappropriate laughter, I find so much about life funny :-) |
