Is it always so hard to let go of your childhood ways?
A side of you that rejoices in growing but there's a yearning for those lazy days, Have you ever felt that the child you once were has grown old and died? But you know that child's still in you, just buried deep to hide, Remember what it felt like to play knife and catch fireflies? Are you still looking for answers to all your "whys"? The questions once so simple have grown so complex, Our young minds have grown but are too weary to flex, Tonight I say goodbye to my childhood friends, I now understand they must come to an end, A child I once was but can never again be, The child I once was had grown into me, I can finally see that we all have grown, We're not the same as the children we'd once known, Unashamed I can say I've cried a few tears, For the long ago days of our childhood years, We're adults now and forever will be, We still have much more to do and so much more to see, Farewell and good luck to the children we once knew, But it's time this adualt introduced herself to you. |
