I rarely look at them. If I do it is to see where they are from.....

Correct spelling, punctuation and grammar... I won't even read it if it looks like one extremely long run-on sentence. It shows they are at least semi-intelligent and care about representing themselves as such. Humor and wit, I know profiles are hard to write but I need to see some personality shining through and not just "this is me in 100 words or less" PictureS are important. I don't want to see one picture that was taken 10 years ago thats far away with no shirt on. Sorry but faces are kind of important.

Content. Humor. Good writing. Something more than "I don't know what to write here." If I see any of the standard cliches, it's all over. That eliminates better than 99% of them.
