no turned it back in.... that is how your area gets allotted improvement moneys, such as road work etc whatever needs be done in your area you live in.. the more people there the better chances at your area getting improved

I've never filled one out. Just don't see the point. All we are is a bunch of numbers to the government & I don't see any more funding, etc because of the population.

It is really important for localities. It is how the Federal Government plans for improvement funding and how the State Government plans for growth, emergency services, schools, roads, etc. We all may be numbers but those numbers count statistically toward funding and improvements. Just my two.

its also used in zoning areas.. for instance here... you have in the city limits, urban development etc.. they use the statistics to draw the lines.. for instance here in the city limits you do not get recycling unless you pay for garbage.. however i the urban development they have to provide you that free of charge even if you don't pay for garbage service.

thats right what chrissy said too.. like for schools.. they will open up bigger schools and hire more teachers... if the count is not there in the census... the classrooms continue to get more crowded.. and more students per teacher. it does create more jobs in the area.or adding more firetrucks to the area..all that stuff..

IF the Census this time around was only about getting a head count...I would have been happy to fill it out.

But a lot of the questions they were asking had NOTHING to do with counting the people.

Nope. Not all the forms are the same. A certain percentage of them ( and I don't know the percentage right off the top of my head ) get a more " detailed " form.

What they don't tell you is that...even on the " short " ten question form...those ten questions are actually somewhere around 30 depending on how many people you have in your house. Every question has sub questions. But the government doesn't count those as questions.

It wasn't a big deal, took a whopping 20 minutes to answer for four people in the household.

10 Questions. Big whoop. They weren't even asking about bedrooms, bathrooms, etc, which they've done before. The news has been discussing that if you got any that had more then questions, they were probably fakes, or asking oddball questions. There's also been sme Republican flyers put out that resembled the forms, and there was a push to get them banned.

My only peeve was the fact that if thy're going to account for Hispanic, Latino, Mexican, then they need to allow for Scottish American, Italian American, German American, etc.

they do this to keep track of you. they already have all the info that they need on where you live, and who you are.....they wanna know WHERE you are as well. i live in several states. when i've refused to fill it out, they actually came by and threatened me with jail in New Orleans. i couldn't believe it.... i told him to get off this property, and forget i exist, by gunpoint....a week later, we then had a flood, and i had to move..... i won't ever fill one out.

Seriously tho, I'd like to know actually how many domesticated aniumals are out there compared to statistics.

Those are relevant, and not as inconvenient as people sometimes portray. They are trying to determine where funds and other resources should be allocated to. Unfortunately, Americans have become the first people to speak out to complain about public schools, medical facilities, the state of their freeways, local services/aid available, etc., but ask 'em for a nickel towards fixing it, or even to fill out a free survey, and here we go...

Duey, I'm with ya. I know the economy sucks and the jobless rate is astonomical but we all still need to get involved any way we can.

Yep, more money for your community. Also, it decides how many seats you get in the House too. I turned mine in the same week that I got it. Yesterday at the grocery store, the Census people had a table in front of the store. Our city only has 60% of their forms turned. That's not good for our city.

some use to ask the family's income amount..
and where everyone worked at..and the way you voted..

but I have not had to fill one out since I left ILLINOIS...twenty five years ago,,,,,lol...maybe the ex did that???lol

I filled mine out. But I wore my tin foil hat when I was doing it so they couldn't find me.

The count also helps with funding for hospitals and emergency services.
