i see on many profiles the term... i like to hang out.. what the heck does that mean?.. im wondering if it really means..... im too lazy to figure out anything to do.. so ill just come over and sit till you think about something to do?

Yes, that's exactly what it means.

i remember the term even from my era... and it was mostly for teens.. to where they would group.. and at least have a goal of figuring out what to then go do... these days i see adults use the term and i wonder if they cant even set a short termed goal...

I think those are the ones who like to refer to themselves as being "a kid at heart." I'm leery of them.....

I have to go with all of you on this one... It means all of it. I met a girl on here once... Where we started dating. And out of the blue one day, she didn't want to persue a relationship anymore. Her idea was that she just wanted to CHILL? That crap makes me sick to my stomach! I asked her what that meant? She didn't have an answer. In my book... To just chill with people is to have fu@% buddies. Or being able to see, and have sex with however many people you like. I don't stand for it, because I'm not that way. So whenever I see hangin out, or chillin... I run the other way.

without it being a super formal event every time
example take a walk or grab a slice of pizza or
get brunch coffee or a burger at a diner and talk about stuff or whatever

I do a lot of "hanging out" myself ... be it sitting with a cup of coffee at a dinner and talking with friends or grilling out or whatever. Hanging out could mean a lot of things and to limit its meaning to one thing could mean to pass by on something that may be fun.

I would assume that someone who just likes sitting around at home will say so, I know several people like that, but at least around my friends, hanging out means "I need to get out of my house and do something".
