Say 'Hello Zimbabwe, Goodbye America' ... you're just gonna love that decreasing net figure on your pay stub while the withholding taxes continue to rise ... smile about that while you tell those of us with common sense how wonderful things are ... things are far from wonderful but far from terrible too,, we still are plenty blessed in this country but perhaps too spoiled to appreciate it.. I think its awful that religion is less protected than sexual lifestyles,,,but it isnt the end of the world because we still can choose personally to have faith or sleep with whom we want(if thats a good thing) I think its awful that racism is still such an issue,,,but it isnt the end of the world because we still are getting into top schools and top positions in spite of racism because of amendments to old laws I think its awful ,that even one child in this country goes without food while ceos and politicians eat like kings,,,but at least we have the kind of hearts in this country which causes some of those same ceos and politicians to give back to those less fortunate so that they may eat,,,, nothing is perfect, but I doubt paying more taxes for better access to healthcare is the end of our system or the world |

The 'United States of America' you USED to live in ended 20 January, 2009. Welcome to the future Zimbabwe - Cuba Low-Rent High Maintenance District. “Write those letters now. Call your friends, and tell them to write them. If you don’t, this program I promise you will pass just as surely as the sun will come up tomorrow....one day…we will awake to find that we have socialism. And if you don’t do this, one of these days, you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children, and our children’s children, what it once was like in America when men were free.” Ronald Reagan 1961 Radio Advertisement trying to scare people about the soon to pass Medicare Bill. deep,, life will go on I said repeatedly that I first of all dont think socialism is terrible, unlike what Russia or Germany had and secondly if its anything like Russia or Germany had,,,where government actually CONTROLLED everything,,we are far from it just because we now pay taxes towards the healthcare americans have access to. You mean forced to buy. If it was only more access, the issue wouldn't be NEARLY as hot as it is. The fact is, this government is, indeed, intruding on our lives by forcing us to buy something. |

Any talk of debt, deficits, or higher taxes is called fear mongering.. The left living in denial.. Not true at all. Fearmongering is spreading half truths to downright lies about what is going to happen when in truth the person or organization or whoever cannot really know what is going to happen. They don't even know for sure that they are going to have problems with this bill. They have bought into someone's fearmongering so they are acting on that misinformation. The right are the ones who want to scare everyone all the time. The big bad govment is going to do bad things to us Think about how many ads, articles, etc.. you see from the right that spout some fear inspiring misconception. Communism- not happening, supposed to happen if Obama got in office Socialism- not happening, supposed to happen if Democrats won in Congress Obamacare- not a bad thing as portrayed Terrorism- was suppose to get worse if Obama got into office We are going to become a third world country, which has never happened and they have been saying it for a long time. Taxes- as if the government wants to break us all End of the world scenerios of all kinds If Obama got in we would be converted to Islam and all who opposed would die Etc.... It goes on and on, the only thing the right ever runs on or stands for is fear and hatemongering. That is not good for America. |

Like I said, that is a straw man argument that gets used because they can't think of anything else. Again....it's about choice. Don't want auto insurance?? Don't drive. You aren't forced to pay " fines " for it. Choice. Don't buy Health Insurance...pay fines or go to jail once the IRS catches up to you. NO choice. THAT is the difference between the two and THAT is what brings the legality of the Health Insurance bill into question. |

You don't have to buy the insurance on the health care either, there will be a penalty on your tax return if you do not.
People have choices across the board. Don't pay your taxes if you have a problem with them. There is a consequence for every action we do, good or bad. And the correct answer is don't buy car insurance and pay the penalty for not having insurance. They still have the choice to drive if they so choose. They will have to pay the penalty for it. But you are missing the point. Don't buy car insurance and decide to drive anyway, THEN you are breaking the law and pay the consequences. However, you are making the CHOICE to break the law by doing so. You don't pay a fine on your tax return if you don't buy car insurance. I understand that there are consequences for our actions. I've never stated, nor will I ever state, otherwise. By the way, you ONLY pay a " penalty " for not having the car insurance if you get caught at it. With the Health Care Bill...you have no choice because there really isn't a way to duck it. |

The government states that for everyone's well being it is best to have car insurance. We know it is for everyone's well being for all to have health insurance for sure so whats the difference? The difference is that the government, although is says " we know it's for everyone's well being " does not make it compulsory by imposing fines on you if you don't own a car. EVERY SINGLE PERSON in this country HAS to buy health insurance. That is the big difference and that is why the argument doesn't hold water. Keep in mind that I DO think that getting people covered is a good idea. I have been trying to pay off medical bills for several years now. |
