Topic: Know this is really dumb | |

I was at my Brother's a couple of weeks ago and my 15 year old niece said *you need a haircut". So I said "OK, then cut it!". Her sisters were horrified that I would let her cut my hair since she had never done it before but my theory was, "whatever she does will grow back". I am now her favorite uncle. I am also her only uncle. you're a great! uncle. she'll always remember that. |

Oh, this is an old post, you've probably already handled it. I'd go to another one and then show her the great cut you got and how you are gonna stick with this stylist!

I have naturally curly hair. In this humidity all I have to do is let it air dry..I ONLY let a stylist that has naturally curly hair cut mine..no one else knows how to. If you cut it the way straight haired people wear theirs, it kinks up to nothing and I look like a sheep! So it does not bother me one bit to tell someone, hey this is my hair...go worry about your own!

Wish i had naturally curley hair, funny..you hear that alot from people about their hair....wanting other than what they were given. Suppose thats why they change it so much.
The subject did come up again, with persistance and I was so taken back that had forgotten all about this post. I was like uh, yea...soon because i was going to a charity fund raiser with someone. It was cancelled (thankfully-for that and another reason). I was thinking why was I so hesitant and then remembered why..she , being a really great friend, great sense of humor, give you the shirt off her back has one serious drawback, She has a hard time forgiving people. We had a falling out a few years ago and she wouldn't talk to me hardly for a couple of years. Before you say anything...she is now like that with her brother...but have been slowly working on her about it without her knowing it. Looking back since high school, I realize that in all the time knowing her...there has almways been someone she is very upset about. I have never seen her mad upset or angry at anything...except this one thing so figure this is where she lets all her displaced anger out. And each person...it goes on for a couple of years, kid you not. I am not her therapist and think she is aware of her problem, as we all have something...so am not going to be the one to bring it up. So that is the reason I was hesitant. |

hmmm.... well, I wear my hair real short in the summer..and I get a lot of compliments on it from guys and girls...why do guys always think women are "dikes" if they have short hair.. I think a lot of women look better with short hair...

With my shape of face, short hair doesn't work for me..I like it where it just looks like I need a hair cut...If it's too short I look like a man!
Seriously, every woman is different in how they like their hair cut. Used to, when I was young, I wore it long, cut in layers..Loved it. It was also dyed black..Funny story here...I moved to the country of Belize to farm. My hair was long and hung down my back. The day after I got there I washed it and blowed dried it. It kinked up so bad, I was the only one in the country with an Afro! It took months for it to tame down again! One day while visiting a lady there, her pet spider monkey jumped on my head...we liked to have never got the little sucker untangled from me! |

This is so easy it's like falling off of a rock. Simply tell her you have a somewhat rare disorder/syndrome called Follicle Owie and you can feel when your hair is cut.

but I have to ask this. I have a really good friend of 30 years plus who has a hairdreser whom she loves and I think, eh. She talked me into going to her once, and I wasn't happy with what she did, besides the fact that she didn't do what I wanted. So this best friend of mine (and she really is) has started putting the pressure on me to 'do something with my hair' again and keeps bringing up going back to her. I really don't want to hurt her feelings, don't really want to do anything to my hair and told her this but she jokes around, I haven't the heart to stand up and tell her I don't like her stylist (have liked only a couple of cuts she's gotten). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this? |

Shasta,
This is a real sticky situation but since you've been friends for so long you could just come out & tell her, like someone else said. Here's what I have done. I preceeded the (whatever I needed to tell my friend) with: "You always want me to be honest with you & tell you what's wrong, don't you?" Then I check out how see responds & take it from there. I just sort of play these things by ear always starting with that. Kidztales |
