Grandpa Explaining a Lifetime
I knew when we stood on the front porch waiting for the sun to set. Nothing else to do nowhere to go, time was ours to hold. It was just the two of us, waiting anticipating how radiant the sunset would be. I knew. We didn’t speak, at least there were no words. But I knew. She was perfect, the most beautiful woman I would ever meet. It was warm out, though the evening was inviting a chill that allowed me to move closer to her. I was shy. But I knew. I knew. Slivers of red and blue and purple and orange danced with one another. It was beautiful. I knew, one day we would be together long enough to love you. |
