Have anyone ever considered that " short bus " jokes and threads might be just a wee bit offensive to people with special needs children??? Just wondering. Thanks for that. I've given up around here with this topic. It always finds it's way back. Mods won't delete them and people seem to think it's funny. No, in the grand scheme of things it really isn't all that important UNTIL you put a child on that bus and wonder how many people are poking fun at him/her through the glass as they ride to school and just try to be a normal kid. I won't rant about the ignorance of such topics because it will fall on deaf ears and there will be all kinds of excuses as to why people have the authority to be able to make these jokes and how I need to lighten up. Make them as you wish........and I sincerely hope for everyone that you never have to experience the heartache that can come from it. |

Pardon me, I mean no offence, but, if it offends you that badly, report it. All involved will be notified. |

Hopefully that is a good thing.... |

That was my intention. To make people think.
I know, personally, a couple of women here who have special needs kids. A childhood friend of mine has an Autistic son. I know ( kind of ) what the parents of a special needs child has to deal with on a daily basis. Sideways glances and whispers from complete strangers. Out loud comments by people who have no grasp of what it takes to take care of a child that isn't what the world considers " normal ". If you've never been in that position, you really don't have any idea how hard life can be at times. These threads don't come along all that often...but it's still more often than it should be. Heather, Rachel and all the other ladies taking care of and loving their special needs children, my hat is off to all of you. |

It's not just special needs children that ride them where I live.
The smaller buses are sent into the areas on the edge of the city because not that many children live in the area. I would never make fun of anyone, for any reason! |

We are sending this topic back. The thread names no one, ridicules no one, and is meant in sarcastic humor. If we pulled every thread, that might offend. Then there wouldn't be any left. As Jeff noted above, i am also sure it was not ill intended. We need to accept the pitfalls of life, and lighten up a bit. If a thread bothers, then walk away from it, same as you would if you happened upon a conversation in a supermarket, are you going to have those people arrested? Certainly not, and we can't do that here, either. |
