<<< Shaun White.. One of the best snowboarder's at the games!!! I heard bout the guy that died. So sad...R.I.P. May his team win gold! Shaun is another fav of mine. It is very sad that a man lost his life doing something that he loved. I'm glad they aren't showing his death on TV any more during the Olympics. I thought that was in rather poor taste. They shouldn't show it ever! |

I can't quite figure that one out! That's NBC for you. And they wonder why they are projected to lose 250 million bucks for showing the Olympics. |

I agree. I didn't see it and am very thankful for that! The comments the other athletes are making are really horrible. Since his death, many people have debated whether the track was too fast or the relatively inexperienced luger was out of his element. A number of Olympic lugers think the track was fine. They fault Kumaritashvili – a sentiment shared by luging officials who deemed the track safe (even while hypocritically lowering the starting location and adding pads to the metal beams that caused the death). Germany's Natalie Geisenberger, who won a race at Whistler last year, said the women's event has turned into a kids race, a startlingly insensitive remark given the tragedy of Friday: I'm not happy about the new start. It’s not a woman’s start, it’s a kinder (German for children’s) start. The rest of the track is OK, but it's not as fast as from the proper start. It's the same for all the athletes, but I don't like it. I felt very good, but now because of the new start it's not fun. Canadian Regan Lauscher complained that the lowered start means her nation's home-track advantage is "basically gone." Given that some have said Canada's resistance to allow other countries to train at the Whistler track played a role in Kumaritashvili's death, that comment beats out even Geisenberger's for insensitivity. Maybe Lauscher is taking cues from her coach, Wolfgang Staudinger, who said that "exotic sliders" are the reasons luge accidents happen. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/vancouver/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Luger-who-died-told-father-he-was-terrified-of?urn=oly,219592 |

Snowboarding today

Man.. Im watching the snowboarding cross an I feel bad for them. The coarse is really bad. Its been raining so its all sloppy, the turns are bad. You can just see how bad it really is. Poor guys. But I am learning a lot from watching. Seeing how they stop, they use differ ways to stop so maybe I can try some an see if one works for me.
That's the one thing I can not get down...stopping. I can stay on the board going down hill without freaking out now. But just can not stop right! One of these days I will learn how to stop then I am heading to a mt. For a real experience. I have heard all bout how its relaxing to go down the hill. Just you, your board, and all that snow. Pop in some music an just let go. I can't wait!! |

Is anyone else blown away with the curling sport? lol
Why is that a sport anyway...looks like a bunch of floorscrubbers to me. Facinating to watch tho, I dunno why. |

Yeah, and they ice dancing isn't a sport and are trying to get it out of the Olympics. And how is it less of a sport than CURLING?!
|
|
|

Curling ... the only sport played intentionally in slow motion.

I'm telling you, the first time I saw it played I thought they were doing a slow-mo instant reply. When I realized it was live I started marveling at how slow those guys can move.
