Have you ever has a friend on here that made you feel like your friednship was just as important to them as it was to you, only to find out you really mean nothing to them at all? How do you handle this? Ummmmmmmm ... no. It's electrons on a screen. It's the internet. It's NOT 'real life'. Without a physical presence or the ability to call 'em up and say 'hey, let's go grab a sandwich' or something, it's a 'pretend friendship. At best, people online can be the equivalent of the 'imaginary friends' kids have growing up. To invest a great deal of emotion or attachment to them is a mistake. The safest way to deal with this (if it's a problem) is to not attach too much importance to things said over the internet. If you meet 'em in real life for an extended period of time and the same things are said then, well, different story. One's reality - one's not. |

Hi Kings-Knight and welcome
So it seems to me that what you are saying is you can't have a friendship with someone unless that are close enough to share a sandwich? I really hope and believe you are wrong about this, however I have no doubts it is true in more cases than not. |
